I was just trying to think up a new thread, but of course I don't want it to be like all the other threads, I want it to be unique. So I thought I'd ask a question that's relevant to me at the moment, and one which I will answer myself as the thread develops.

Define LOVE?

Carl

ps If nothing else, this question should receive some interesting responses.

John Donne tried...

John Donne (1572-1631)

Love's Alchemy

Some that have deeper digg'd love's mine than I,
Say, where his centric happiness doth lie;
I have lov'd, and got, and told,
But should I love, get, tell, till I were old,
I should not find that hidden mystery.
Oh, 'tis imposture all!
And as no chemic yet th'elixir got,
But glorifies his pregnant pot
If by the way to him befall
Some odoriferous thing, or medicinal,
So, lovers dream a rich and long delight,
But get a winter-seeming summer's night.

Our ease, our thrift, our honour, and our day,
Shall we for this vain bubble's shadow pay?
Ends love in this, that my man
Can be as happy'as I can, if he can
Endure the short scorn of a bridegroom's play?
That loving wretch that swears
'Tis not the bodies marry, but the minds,
Which he in her angelic finds,
Would swear as justly that he hears,
In that day's rude hoarse minstrelsy, the spheres.
Hope not for mind in women; at their best
Sweetness and wit, they'are but mummy, possess'd.

I've opened this thread five times now and I'm buggered if I know how to answer.

Actually, that's quite close. Love is like being buggered. It can be excruciatingly painful, but it can also be the most pleasurable experience you've ever had (often moving from one to the other in the space of a minute).

Lou ;)

To cliche or not to cliche?

That is now the question.

Love.

Love?!?

What the hell has love got to do with literotica, Carl? Eh? Eh?

Well, you're right. It does. Buggered Lou, eh? Bugger. Hmm.

Love has been pain, love has been bliss. Right now, love is that incredible, warm feeling when everything seems right and you know and you feel and you are fine and she's just... right.

Love, According to Hobbes

Calvin: What's it like to fall in love?

Hobbes: Well ... say the object of your affection walks by ...

Calvin: Yeah?

Hobbes: First, your heart falls into your stomach and splashes your innards. All the moisture makes you sweat profusely. This condensation shorts the circuits to your brain, and you get all woozy. When your brain burns out altogether, your mouth disengages and you babble like a cretin until she leaves.

Calvin: That's love?!?

Hobbes: Medically speaking.

Calvin: Heck, that happened to me once, but I figured it was cooties!!

I agree with all the above, but I also think it's impossible to define love in just a few words. They're never quite adequate enough, I don't know if anyone else would agree with that statement but I believe it to be true.

Of all the words that have left peoples lips over the years love is up there with the best of them. In films, in books, in poems and in history love has caused more heartache and suffering than most other things. It's also responsible for bringing us closer as a people, and helping us to stop wars and aid those that can't help themselves.

I've experienced the feelings of love three times in my life, and each time seems greater than the last. There is also one time of the year when we all experience love, and that's Christmas. For whatever reason, Christmas is the one time of year that brings us closer together. Some have said because of that, that they wish it could be Christmas everyday. I share that sentiment.

I'm in love at the moment and I feel loved, so if I had to define love I'd find it hard. Even so, I will give it a go.

Love is having the courage to change, to move mountains and ford great oceans. Love is like a dream you never want to awake from, and a feeling of intense passion. Love can get you high and love can bring you down, but being in love and having that love returned is simply one of life's greatest pleasures. So if you're in love, I know where you are and I share those indescribable feelings with you.

Love to all.

Carl
