1.I for one despise war,but think it is nessesary in this case .

2.In Islam defensive war{for self protection} is allowed,I am considering this a defensive war.

3.I do believe that chemical/biological weapons are stockpiled in Iraq, and that they could kill many with them.

4.I do not buy the "he has nukes" arguement, that strikes me as bunk

5.I do know that that regime has supported some terrorist groups in past and present, but the "so-called" Al-qeda link is Bullshit.

6.The terrorist group in question is located in the Kurdish lands, out of Sadaams control, and why would the Kurds who have endured such indignities and repression really want to help Sadaam or help others to screw with one of the few nations that has ever helped them?

7.Iraq is not nor was a theocracy prior/during/or now,Theocracies tend to have a marytr wish, not simple pathetic DICKtatorships.

8.I have full confidence in the US military to get the job done quickly and with restraint

9.I worry more about what will happen in future,The US only tends to stay and actually assist for as long as one man is president, when the american people start haveing the "Why am I paying taxes to rebuild a pathetic country?" arguement and whine, presidential canidates tend to waffle, then any good that was accomplished fades quickly

10.Lets consider other facts though,Sadaam Hussein hasnt complied with the numerous UN requirements,he has attempted to cuckhold us and to a degree has succeded.

11.Sadaam is a bad Man,but lets get real,he isn't the devil incarnate, nor is he any better than Assad in Syria or the clerics of Iran,or King Fahd of Saudi Arabia, all of these countries practice repression on a constant scale against minorities and their own people.

12.I reject this pathetic childish attitude that to be against war is to be pro-Sadaam or pro-terrorism,it reeks of hypocricy have we forgotten that to be American is to have the right to disagree? Only in Repressive regimes or goverments is that considered unpatriotic.

13.I respect the French action of disagreement, but I question what has happened to the old French ideas of self-realization,After all if it wasnt for the French intervention...The USA wouldnt exist now, perhaps they have lost their way.

14.The war isnt totally about oil, lets face some facts..If Iraq didnt have oil,we probaly wouldnt bother too much, also do you really think that the US can afford to have an unstable regime with quite a bit of oil reserves starting some mass genocide?

15.I think the war has to be done,I hate it,and the probable terrorism that will follow, but who else is going to do it? India? Brazil? I dont think so.

16.I think the more pressing enemies are Iran and N.Korea, and possibly China.

I seldom put out a long post like this,so if you must do busybody and Hanns imitations...go find another place,I choose a middle way of looking at the whole damn thing.

You obviousley did! Enough to reply.

"Tashed" isnt a word as I recall.

Nor am I a fundamentalist,I'm a Sufi...are you really to dense to understand?

Never mind...you probaly are...pathetic foreign twit.

Fairly spoken CH. I agree with a lot of what you say. I still have questions on why Hussien and Iraq over say, North Korea...but I guess we have to start somewhere to show we are serious and meean business. Still have a small belief that GWB is fighting his daddy's war though.

CH

Very well said and I agree......except

The anti war protestors ARE pro Saddam......why else protest the coming war to get rid of him?

They are more anti America then anything else.....

Not ONE has offered another alternative

Get tashed, bb.

CH, your argument #9 will probably be a major plank in GWB's re-election campaign platform. Honestly, what else can he claim accomplishment of? I hope the Democratic candidate supports the reconstruction efforts and steals his thunder.

It's not the stand I would have expected you to take.

With Baghdad out of the terror game and revolution hopefully coming to Tehran, we should see a waning of support fot the thugs whom give your religion a black eye...

I don't see long-term problems because, like Turkey, I think you have a nation of people who want to join the modern world, who don't want to be ruled by Saddam.

I could take issue with a few of your points, but I'll just sit and be amazed at being in agreement on something, once!

That might be quite a show indeed.

Don't get used to it, CH.

And to add, not all "anti-war" people are anti-war. We're against how it's been handled and the general attitude of Our President.

The Bush sheep like to pretend that we're militantly protesting any action ever.

Fair enough Angel,

You know I have struggled with the whole mess and above is what I came up with,to me at least...introspection of personal biases is needed when considering a complex problem,I still absolutely hate the idea of this war...but it seems like most options are allready exhausted.

And I'm not flaming you or anyone about this, just so you know,I know people from both sides of the fence, and I see the options as very slim at moment.

If you're in the middle of the road...

You'll get hit from both sides.

You can put whipped cream on dog shit, but it's still dog shit.

Good post, CH

I hope that the human suffering is held to a minimum, and that it is resolved as quickly as possible.

One of my friends from high school was the last official combat fatality last time around. I have my fingers crossed.

Why are you calling me dogshit LC?

It's a phrase, not an insult....

It's an expression used when people are laying down a lot of bullshit that doesn't hold up.

Here's another expression:

"Don't piss on my leg, and then tell me it's raining."

Having lost my brother in Desert Storm in 1991, you can only imagine my mixed feelings about another war that will take young men and womens lives.

The only thing that I can tell you is what my brothers last letter said. The fighting was not to gain real estate or to insure oil supplies. We are a people that believe in freedom and rights for all. The people in Iraq are surpressed and have no freedoms.

Any and all of the posts on this subject would get you killed by the goverment if this were Iraq. Please remember that you have the RIGHT to disagree with US policy. Also remember that there is a fine line between disagreement and treason during wartime.

Lets hope that this will be the last time we have to deal with the present goverment in Iraq. The Mid-east will always be in great termoil just disagreeing with themselves. It's been going on since biblical times and for the same reasons.

God Bless America and may our leaders have the support and backing of this great nation. Our world is not perfect, but it's the only one we have. Where you going to go if we screw this planet up?
