Bio: Liz grew up in a very troubled family. Her house was on the outskirts of the city, but close enough so that its problems could reach her. She had been abused by her drunken father more times than she could care to count; her mother was always working and seldom home to do much of anything but sleep. She had no siblings, so she had no one to talk to. Her only out was to head out and find seclusion in an abandoned cathedral, St. Agnes. It was there she would sleep, read, do anything but think about home.

John

John watched her from the balcony of the old church. Liz sat and read her book, he could't tell what it was from where he was. He was sure he had the ability to know what it was, he just wasn't sure how to make those powers work. Actually, he wasn't sure how to make most of his powers work. Nobody had explained all that to him before he was sent to protect her. All they had told him was that he wasn't supposed to reveal himself to her, at least not as her angel.

Liz was his first assignment as a guardian angel. And man, what an assignment it was. The first thing he had done when he got to her was to point her towards this old church. It was definitely abandoned and it seemed like most people had forgotten it was even here.

He drifted down to sit beside her, "My dear Liz, you poor girl. How could anyone do anything to harm a beautiful girl like you." he whispered as he reached out and lightly rubbed her head, wondering if she'd be able to feel his touch.

Liz sat with her back up against one of the walls. She let her legs lay out straight as she propped herself up, and her only source of light was the sun's rays peering through broken windows. She had one of her favorite books with her, a book on history. As much as she'd like to forget her past, she was fascinated by the past of others.

A slight wind picked up, and it got rather cold inside. She guessed it was rather late, but she wasn't in a mood to go home. Heck, she'd spend the night if she wanted to. She was about to start a new chapter when something brushed her head. Looking around, she didn't see anything, so she felt that the wind fluttered some of her hair. Sighing, she put the book down and nodded her head, closing her eyes.

As Liz nodded off, he noticed she looked cold. He wrapped his arms around her and held her, hoping it would help warm her. "I won't let him hurt you anymore" he whispered. "Now, if I can just figure out how." he rubbed her arms lightly to try to warm her with the little bit of friction he might be able to apply.

Thoughts invaded her mind, and she found herself dreaming. Her hands slid over a small garden of flowers, until the wind kicked up, and scattered their petals all around her. It was a sunny day... but one that didn't last long. Shadows crept into her head, and the sky turned black. She woke up.

Shivering, she wrapped her arms around her. As she did, she felt a bit warmer, even though her hands were icy cold.

"That's weird." she said to herself. She stretched her hands, moving her fingers around.

"She's cold" John thought to himself, not realizing it was his touch that made her that way. "It's my job to protect her" he thought as he made a blanket appear in the shadows of a corner of the church. "You'll be fine" he whispered to her. "I'll protect you" hoping his words would help her relaxe, but not knowing if they'd penetrate her mind and make her more secure. "There's a blanket in the corner if you're cold." he said, again wondering how he could communicate it to her. He looked at her, lovingly at first, then he realized how beautiful she was. "If I could only hold her in my arms and warm her, comfort her." he thought to himself
