Henry T. Ford was a Nazi at heart.

Ford got some kind of Nazi Medal from Hitler in the 30's.

It is hidden somewhere in his musuem.

The generous treatment allotted Ford Motor by the Nazi regime is partially attributable to the violent anti-Semitism of the company's founder, Henry Ford. His pamphlet The International Jew: The World s Foremost Problem, brought him to the attention of a former German Army corporal named Adolf Hitler, who in 1923 became chairman of the fledgling Nazi Party.

When Ford was considering a run for the presidency that year, Hitler told the Chicago Tribune, "I wish that I could send some of my shock troops to Chicago and other big American cities to help." (The story comes from Charles Higham's Trading With the Enemy, which details American business cooperation with the Nazis.) In Mein Kampf, written two years later, Hitler singled Ford out for praise. "It is Jews who govern the stock exchange forces of the American Union," he wrote. "Every year makes them more and more the controlling masters of the producers in a nation of one hundred and twenty millions; only a single great man, Ford, to their fury, still maintains full independence." In 1938, long after the vicious character of Hitler's government had become clear, Ford accepted the Grand Cross of the German Eagle, the Nazi regime's highest honor for foreigners.

I knew it was somethin like that just too lazy to do research.

Its not that scary, if you think about it..

These things happen all the time..

there are huge corporations, and even branches of governments supporting stuff just like this all the time...

i have to admit that i was somewhat blown away by the news on Henry Ford.

Not that i buy american anyway, for a car. But. Just wierd.

The Forces of Stupid

Damn, that's a good title for him.

Why single out Ford? Many of the largest and most influential American corporations and businessmen were doing business with the Nazis. If not directly, then through third world subsidiaries right up until the U.S.A. declared war.

Henry Ford is dead. Adolph Hitler is dead. Nazi Germany is dead. All consigned to the history books. Don't you think it's time to stop holding a grudge?

It isnt about holding a grude Mensa

:p

it is about the truth and the spin doctors pretending it didnt happen in order to keep FORD's image as a great American.

ANd those other corportations did not get medals of honor from Hitler nor get quoted his book with his hateful and crazy ramblings.

It is about responsibility.

I should imagine none of those Corporations is anxious that their dealings with the Nazis become public knowledge. Ford was simply more upfront as to his prejudices. It doesn't mean others didn't share his beliefs.

As I said, they are all dead and gone, so why should we let past poor judgements influence us today?

I already answered ya Mensa

If we kept that attitude then why tell the truth about Hitler, Mussolini, Franco, Spanish Inquisition .............on and on.....

after all, they are all DEAD.

It is about revealing the truth.
it is about not misleading people into believing someone is a hero when in fact he is a bigot, racist, pig.
it is about knowing what someone is, and not honoring a person for what they are not and never were.

FORD was an anti-semite.

People should know that about him so they can make an informed decision about whether they want to continue to buy his products and give profits to his company and his legacy...

if you dont understand that Mensa, then I guess we should just remember that the trains ran on time under Mussolini and forget all the horrible things he did.

Actually, that is a myth. The Italian trains were just as unreliable under Mussolini as before. Does this mean you won't buy Chrysler products either because they are owned by Daimler-Benz who used slave labour during the war?

The only thing I hold against the Ford Motor Company is the fact they made a gas-fired oven and sold it under the name of Pinto.

So Ford was a closet Nazi. Or at least a supporter. Does this mean his contributions to the widespread use of automation were any less important? I don't support Nazi's. Sick fucks. But that shouldn't blind the fact that they furthered a lot of causes, albeit through immoral means.

There's a book entitled 'the nazi war on cancer' by Robert Proctor. Outlines a shitload of nazi doctor contributions. Shows that the Nazis conducted the most aggressive antismoking campaign in modern history. Further research revealed that Hitler's government passed a wide range of public health measures, including restrictions on asbestos, radiation, pesticides, and food dyes. Nazi health officials introduced strict occupational health and safety standards, and promoted such foods as whole-grain bread and soybeans. They were also crazy about widespread standardized healthcare.

This doesn't lessen their evils, but it doesn't mean their research means less.

Of course, I still smoke. Go nicotine.

Yea the Nazi doctors conducted alot of medical research

:p

I'm not saying we shouldn't out Ford. I knew about him before this thread, in fact, I mentioned it just the other day to a buddy when we saw something about Ford on the tele. People SHOULD know the facts. But most, I think, would ignore the things that came out of the Nazi-world. Knowledge is knowledge. All I'm saying is we shouldn't ignore things that helped the world, even if they came about in a bad way. I would think ignoring it belittles the victims. I don't think I'm expressing my thoughts on this well enough. I'm not shit-stirring or anything, I swear.

Sides, I wouldn't buy a ford. I have a Hummer. Gaz-guzzler, but it's a sweet ride.

I don't think Siren is trying to say we should hold a grudge forever (although Siren it does seem like that's what you're doing with your Ford boycott), merely that we should never forget the deeds of the past.

I think not buying a Ford because the old fart Henry was an anti-semite is a little rash, but if someone was an asshole, they should be remembered for the asshole they were as well as the good things they did. This doesn't discount their contributions to society, it just adds balance.

Richard Nixon did a lot of great things as president, especially in foreign affairs, but as a man he was a real asshole. He should be remembered for both his dealings with China and the Soviet Unionand Watergate.

Likewise, a lot of the German scientists that we basically kidnapped to run our space program after the war were Nazis who used slave labor to build V-1's during the war. They should be remembered for the Nazis they were, but also given their due for getting American astronauts on the moon.

Dont sweat it Krypto.

and alot of it was on Jews.

most people call what their research was ...........torture.

So, just cuz others supported Hitler, we should overlook FORD?>
is this what I am getting from you two?

Well gee, if we can get enough businesses and people to support ethnic cleansing, then we should just forget about it later and say, hey they all did it?

WRONG IS WRONG>

and the truth should never be sugar coated
and history should not be sanatized so someone can pretend to be someone they are not.......
and leave a false legacy when they are dead.

Being dead doesnt give you a free ride from responsibility and guilt.

Siren, don't include me in that. I merely said history will deal with their legacy. I find praise for Nazi practices to be odd and disturbing. I stand aside from that, thank you very much!
