Can anybody give me some simple tips of getting a new password for Literotica. I have lost mine and I have tried everything. The reason I am getting on here ( in case you are wondering ) is that I have kept this on the favourites. I just click on it and it comes up but I have forgotten what my password word is and useless at getting a new one. Tried everything. So please can you help me and explain in simple steps of how to get one. Thank you.

Do you know the email address you registered with?

If so, click the Log Out link at the top of any page.

Click one of the links on the next page (like 'Take me to the page I was previously viewing'). You'll be taken to a login page.

Enter your username, and click on the 'Forgot Your Password?' link.

Enter the email address you registered with, click the button, and your password will be sent to that address shortly.

Once you have your old password, and log in, you can go into the User CP (link at the top of most pages), click Edit Profile, and click the button to change your password. You will have to enter your old password, as well as the new one. Choose a word that ideally contains 6+ letters AND numbers (like 'dog954shoe') but will be no problem for you to remember in the future.

If you DON'T have the email address you registered with, or access to that account anymore, simply re-register with a new username and memorable password. Make sure you use an email address that you will both recall and maintain, so you can retrieve your pw should you forget it in the future. Lit doesn't send spam or share your address, so it's fine to use your main address (you can always use another to communicate with people anonymously - gmail is a good option because you can link multiple addresses for free).

It's not like you have a long post history at this point, and you can always put that you were 'foxylady2' in your new profile so that people can go look up your 14 posts if they want to. :)

Do you mean you can log in here in the forums because you told it to "remember me" and automatically log you in?

If that is the case, just go to the userCP and change your password to something you can remember -- the same username and password is used for the forums and the main site. (You shouldn't need your old password to change your password if you're already logged in.)

If you can log into the forum but aren't logged into the main site, that's a different problem and not a problem with your password -- again the same username and password are used for both and if you're logged in through either login request, you should be logged into the other.

If Foxlady2 is a new name because you can't log in to an older username then follow Erika's suggestions.

I totally misread the 'New Password' field last night.

Follow Harold's advice, Foxy.

You need something like this.

http://www.roboform.com/

This way you only have to remember one Master password, it fills in the blanks, keeps the infromation encrypted and YOU can print out a list for safe keeping in case the Ole computer crashes.

I'm not sure how many passwords or features are active in the free version because i bought the pro version and use it for everything.

I installed roboform once and it infected my computer with a bunch of junk, IIRC.

Firefox users don't need a special program to remember info. It saves info and allows users to input a master password. I think some of the other browsers have similar features. It's still a good idea to choose a password you will remember, though; I've been screwed by relying too heavily on my browser and cookies in the past.

I have been screwed by more than my browser and cookies!

I did say something like it...

But Junk???

How, where, why?

I've used it for many years and have had no trouble at all with anything.

i trust you down loaded from their website.

I think it might have installed "affiliated" programs on my desktop and start menu as well, or a toolbar or something I didn't want. I remember getting scolded for installing it because Hubby was tasked with removing said junk.

I couldn't tell you when this was, but it would have been years ago, and I either downloaded it from download.com or the website directly.

I'm not saying it's unsafe across the board - more than one company has packaged their software with inane programs or spyware/adware, then removed it later. I'm just saying I recall having problems with it, and there was a good reason for me to get rid of it.

thats why I use Mozilla Firefox. It saves logons & passwords for you so you do NOT have to remember them.

Plus, if you did forget you can easily view the you saved list.

this is 1 of many reasons why I switched from internet explorer to firefox.
