I just now got blindsided with yet another serious family health problem and I need to be pointed to anything I can find on the 'net about Transverse Myolitis - and also any relationship to developing MS from it. I believe I know what it is, but I cannot really find anything about it via a Google search. So I was hoping maybe someone here would know.

Please email if you can as I am leaving shortly - if not then post here.

My email addy is shymcguy@yahoo.com

Thanks in advance.

I Can't find that but can find stuf on Myositis, did you spell it wrong?

Thanks - that helps. I was unsure whether Transverse Myolitis was the same as Transverse Myelitis; I knew that Myo meant muscle, but I wasn't sure of Mye - I guess it is the same.

hmmm i typed into my search engine.. exactly as you typed it (don't ya just love cut and paste?)... lol.. and that is what i came up with.. they talk about it and MS (can't remember which page i seen that info on, but i was skimming and remember seeing something about MS)

Good luck in finding the info you need..

Thanks guys - you are great

But I gotta go now; I've got two sick and very close family members to see now. When it rains it pours.

Yeah - I saw a page of stuff come up on Google, but I wasn't sure if Myelitis was the same as Myolitis so I thought I would ask. I guess it is the same - or maybe it was just mistyped by the person who has it.

Later.

transverse myelitis

shy i believe the person wrote the wor incorrectly. there is a syndrom known as acute transverse myelitis. it is usually from or stems from a viral illness, vasculitis(inflammation of blood vessels) but in many cases a direct cause may not be isolated. it usually stems from a lesion(badspot) in the spinal colomn.
patient may experience back pain with gradual loss of sensation starting from the feet upwards. from what i understand it is not the same as MS but i dont know if patiens with MS can contract this. both diseases involve the spinal cordbut MS is usally more gradual process where as transverse myelitis ususally occurs suddenly..in either case your family member should be seen by a neurologist and or a neurosurgeon.
the web site www.webmd.com may be of benefit. i hope this info is helpful
