Help! Stockings or tights?

I've reached a sex scene in my new story where a woman is undressing another. The woman being undressed is slightly dominant. She's a violinist - dark, slightly mysterious, but very, very feminine.

What she's had taken off so far is a tight black poloneck jumper, a black bra and a black pair of knee-length leather boots. She's wearing a short skirt and in her current position, it's lifting up at a really tantalising angle.

The question is - what's she wearing underneath? Stockings? Tights? Suspenders? Nothing but panties? (bear in mind that although it's indoors, it's set in NY in the winter) I'm totally desperate for suggestions, because I feel like I'm on a roll here.

Has anyone got a second to help? Also, what colour should it be?

Wow! So many more new suggestions. I think I'll have to rule the corset out, because I've never even seen one of those things. Far too complicated. So I'll keep it simple and go for the thigh highs.

I think you first have to decide on whether you want to achieve realism and believability or whether you are looking for just eroticism.

If you want realism the young lady would be wearing black opaque tights. We girls often skip a day or two between shaves in the winter and wear tights to cover up the stuble. But that is not very sexy.

From an erotic view point I think sheer black lace top thigh highs are about as sexy as they come. With the short skirt a peek at the lace top can drive guys wild.

I hope you decide on the thigh highs.

Good point...I was making the assumption that a garter belt was being referred to, since garters are normally worn with the belt when it comes to hose. Knee high or calfhigh socks sometimes need garters to keep them in proper position, but those are usually just worn by themselves. (At least, I know the ones with my soccer ref uniform were.)

Both of the garter types I pictured are without the "hangers" a garter belt, Merry Widow/Corset, or the "men's garters" you're refering to. (google image search didn't turn up any pictures of old men in bermuda shorts with black socks and garters, but I didn't searchthe entire twenty pages of hits either.)

Given the scenario presented -- NYC, Wintertime, Short Skirt, "The woman being undressed is slightly dominant. She's a violinist - dark, slightly mysterious, but very, very feminine," -- I'd expect tights (or pantyhose) as a concession to the weather. They might be crotchless, but it seems to me that a short skirt would almost require something like tights to keep icicles from forming someplace uncomfortable during a NYC winter.

Of course, "Thigh-Highs" and sexy lace "boxer-brief" panties like Yui often displays in her AV are a distinct possibility, too. Maybe even Fur Panties as a concession to the weather?
