Help? Stain question

I was trying on my new dress earlier and I got deodorant on the front. eep. It's red silk and I bought it for a wedding on Sat. I've been looking online for answers. Do you guys have any suggestions? :(

I am not sure about silk, but I know that for other fabrics, you can just fold and rub the material along the stain, and it dissolves the deoderant. I saw that on Oprah once.

... :(

Nope. When I stain something, I usually just wash it. *shrugs*

Maybe you want a gal's opinion instead of a guy's. :p

I'm assuming it's a lovely white smudge from stick type deodorant? Scrape off the majority of the spot with a fingernail or the back of a butter knife gently. Then, try hand washing in woolite or oxyclean and cold water. Don't rub the spot once it's wet, because silk rarely holds color well, and you'll end up with a faded spot on the dress.

Then, go straight out and buy some clear deodorant.

Thanks pipercatt and PCG.
I was freaking out because I know it can't be drycleaned by Saturday. Argh. And since, I'm a frilly, dressy kinda girl- I have nothing else to wear.
I am terrified to touch it because I don't wanna mess it up. I know nothing about silk. I should have never bought a dry clean only dress.

So, PCG? The Oxyclean will work? I have some of that, here.

Yeah, I'll get the clear deo. *lol*

Dry clean only is just a suggestion RD. They have to put cleaning instructions in garments, so they tell you one way to clean it. Almost all silk is washable in cold water with mild detergent.

If you're going to use Oxyclean, dissolve it in HOT water first and then dump that into the cold water you're washing the dress in. Otherwise, it will just sit there and do nothing.

You could also get one of those Dryel kits that 'dry cleans' clothing in the dryer. I've used them in emergencies, and they work pretty well. A bit expensive though.
