Hi,

I'm new to the site and am unsure of the process for actually posting stories to the boards!

I consider myself fairly literate, so, do I need an Editor? I may well make the odd mistake, but they are mainly spelling errors brought on my my fingers inability to write at the speed my brain thinks... not a good trait for a dyke perhaps... then again, hmmm?

If it is suggested that I should 'employ' an editor, could you recommend someone who has a good reputation with regard to editing lesbian / bdsm themed stories?

Helpful hints always appreciated!

Thanks
Truckie

You'll find the submission guidelines here. They're pretty thorough, so just follow them carefully.

The odd spelling mistake doesn't require an editor, in my opinion; we all live with them no matter how carefully we proof our own work. Good writing does has to have good mechanics, but good mechanics alone don't make a good story. What's really hard for the author to judge, though, is how well he or she has drawn the characters, whether the story structure and plot work, whether the tone and pacing are right, whether the writing is too sparse or too flowery, and whether the background material is woven in skillfully. Those are things that are right up an editor's alley.

Do you have a reader who can give you feedback and is not afraid of hurting your feelings? That may be all you require if no major flaws are found.
