So I'm looking for a story! And I've been searching for it for DAYS. It might ACTUALLY be driving me crazy. (Seriously! Edge of sanity! I'm wondering if I dreamed the whole thing up!)

I read it a couple of years ago and I remember it being quite long. I also THINK that MAYBE the lead guy's name was Jack.

It starts off with a hitman of sorts, and a young woman. She convinces him to buy her her first drink in a bar when she turns 21, and their friendship kinda goes from there.

She kinda wants a piece of him, but he's always jumping from wife to wife (most of them are just covers - she doesn't realize that though) and he is trying to keep some distance between them, because she's totally a weakness for him, and it would kill him if any of his (many) enemies caught on that she was out there, all vulnerable and stuff.

She finds out he's a hitman, and an all-round dangerous guy but it doesn't stop her from being friends with him. He kinda likes how brazen she is, and sort of adopts her as his own. He teaches her to ride motorbikes and stuff, and keeps a covert eye on her, just in case.

Anyway, Somewhere at the beginning her boss is killed, and she comes across his laptop, and all of a sudden she's in a lot of trouble - like a whole bunch of people want her dead, trouble.

Hitman-guy swoops in and keeps her safe, and they end up on the run, picking up his English ex-wife and kid, and the dead bosses son along the way (somehow!)

They also at one point end up on a private plane - hitman dude knows she's scared of flying, so ends up drugging her and carrying her on for her own good... Despite knowing that it's kinda a big breach of trust, and she might end up hating him.

Oh, and he buys her this beautiful motorbike for her birthday, but didn't give it to her, because she wasn't experienced enough to ride it safely, but in the course of running from the bad guys he ends up having to put her on it. He spends the whole ride kinda worried about her coming off it on the highway, because she's taken a few painkillers, and the bike is probably a bit too powerful for her skillset.

She ends up having to become an assassin in her own right to keep herself safe, and at the end I remember her saying to the hitman dude 'what if I didn't want this life?' and he's all 'Well then I'd do everything I can to get you out' (Because he TOTALLY loves her, and always has!) and she's all 'well that's all I needed to know.'

Any of this sounding familiar to anyone?? It's a good story (I think!)

Anyway, let me know if you find it. It would save the hours of searching I've been doing! (Unless of course I did dream it up, in which case I have a totally awesome and vivid fantasy life.)

Awesome

That is so far from the average Literotica story I'm wondering if this was the site where you read it? I'm exhausted just reading. Did it have sex as well?

Yeah, there was a little sex - not a ton, but there was definitely sex... And I'm pretty sure I read it here, because I don't venture far from lit!

I think it made an impression because it WAS so different...

Have you searched Novels and Novellas? Word in the title?

It's good that you remember so much of it and give that kind of detail. So many requests for "missing" stories sound like 10,000 others. :)

ETA: do you remember if the series had a red H? Oh, and what categories do you usually read in? What attracts you?

Yeah, I've searched lit for almost everything I can remember, and I even tried with a google site search, I just can't seem to find it... This was kinda my last hope!

I think the guy's name was Jack, but that could just be my memory on the fritz!

I'm not sure if it was marked 'H' but I usually only read those that are... And I usually read in Romance or Novels/Novellas... so that's what I've been searching!

Look - I agree with you. I am sure I read that story here a few years ago. But -- I can't even remember what genre it was under. It wasn't great, but interesting. Keep looking, and sooner or later you will find it.

It definately was not Romance, because I never visit there.
