Help Please asap

Hello, this is my very first thread, hope I'm in the right place. I have a story in the works about a woman newly divorced and after many jobs that don't pay enough money to support her family she resorts to a strip club. The only bad thing about this is I have no knowledge of strip clubs. My goal is to make the story as believable as possible. I've tried searching the internet, but that wasn't much help. If there's anybody here who knows of this and can give tips, pointers or ideas that I could add to my story I'd greatly appreciate it.

Well off the top of my head, the changing room for the girls is tiny. The management tends to push the girls to do 'anything' to get people there and spending money. Depending on the club that means going to private rooms for lap dances, more for more money, or doing lapdances in the 'private' section with just a rope closing it off.

Oddly enough for the most part the men tend to be in suits, unless your middle of nowwhere USA then they are rednecks.

Management hates to have their girls selling more after work, they lose money, if the girl is doing her thing in the club they get a cut.

Oh and the bisexual lesbian dancers are about half and half with straight dancers.

What she said, and hey this may be a shocker, but have you tried visiting a strip club? If you go in the afternoon, like say 3-4 before most guys are off worka nd visiting the club anyway the girls who are there would be happy to talk to you.

Of course if you are not disfigured chances are pretty good the manager will offer you a job.

Which of course you probably would not want to do, however he/she shouldn't have a problem showing you around or passing you off on one of the strippers to do the same, assuming they are not busy. Which is why I said 3-4, go in after the lunch crowd and before the dinner crowd.

Just remember one thing. The girls that work there are all about money. They are actresses that get paid to play a role. As seductive as they may seem to the guys, its all about the money. For the most part, they could care less about the men. They are just a way to make a living. Forget any concepts about the stripper with a heart of gold. They generally become pretty callous about men after a while.

You might check the IMDb site for movies you can rent, about strip clubs and showgirls. The stories might not be realistic, but the scenery and background will be more-or-less accurate.

Also, you might check the TwoSheds site for reviews of clubs near you.

Rent the movie "Striptease" with Demi Moore. I don't know how accurate it is, but it gives a detailed and believable depiction of the workings of a stripclub. I'm sure there are others as well.....Carney

Movies sorta are accurate, the dressing room is always way to big in them though. Not to mention the customers are always gorgeous in the movie, very not true. Not to mention most of the time, there is no drunk getting up on the stage or trying to rape/maul a dancer, there are ever present bouncers because it happens almost daily.

thanks everyone for your input, it's helping a great deal. I asked a friend if she'd go with me to a club and I got the most horriied look, so I don't see that happening anytime in the near future, lol besides the clubs around me are not in the best of neighborhoods and I wouldn't risk my safety to venture there alone. So my only hope is thru here, the internet which isn't giving me much and following up on suggestions for movies and the like. But I do thank you and my research continues.

HBO has a series called G-String Divas ... check it out ... lots of great insight into the minds of strippers and some great club scenes also ... can give you whatever you're looking for! If you'd like specific input ... feel free to PM me with any questions, and I'd be more than happy to help you out ... I know several strippers personally and can give you their stories (in part)... I've also frequented several different clubs (from the redneck to the suits)

Strip clubs can't be in nicer neighborhoods, they would get drummed out of the neighborhood post haste, can't imagine why.

Anyway silly question, but you don't know any men? I can pretty much guarantee any guy would be quite happy to go to a strip club with you.

I supose I didn't word my comment correctly. I suppose you're right about the locations. Thanks for the correction.
