Indeed - I'm always surprised when people turn up here with homework. I thought the point of homework was that you have to do it yourself?

well study and asking others to study for you are two different things.....dontcha think?

I don't see how that makes it wrong to ask others for help finding good web sites and such. We all know how hard it is to sift through the porn looking for informative sites!

I guess for me (and possibly others) it is all in the wording 'anyone want to help me do my homework?' which granted, can be interpreted a variety of ways, but going on past experience of posters who are not that regular here who pose similar requests, it usually has been they want an easy way out as in other people doing it for them and then they present it all smiles to the Dominant and take the credit while letting them think they did a lot of work. Most Dominant's realise it is going to be an arduous task, and frustrating as well, but then they take pride in and value the sub who is willing to go the distance..and often set the task simply because it is not going to take 5 minutes. There is also the added advantge of setting the task in that if you learn the pathways through the internet search functions to find this information, you are going to be valueable in the future should they want you to reesearch something else on their behalf. A bit like a good teacher....the ones who do not hand you the work on a platter but make you do some work on your own, usually have the students who learn and retain the most knowledge and develop skills that can be transferred elsewhere. Think of it like this....if you are employed to work in a restaurant as a chef and are expected to organise and cook the meals ordered, do you organise and cook them or send out to another restaurant for the meal to be delivered so you can then present it to the waiter to take to the customer who originally ordered it? Well its really a moot point, since things went sour with said dominant and Im not involved anymore...

But actually, I've been experimenting with bdsm for 2 years now and I'm pretty knowledgeable about most things...this was just a very specific thing that I didn't know much about and seeing as I had only a few hours to gather info, it seemed silly to wade through virus-infecting porn sites.

Better to discuss with knowlegeable people who may know of informative websites which aren't easily found through a quick yahoo search.

The wording of "help me with my homework" was more a joke than anything.

To me, talking to ya'll counts as doing the homework myself because I'm pretty sure the people here have as much experience as anyone else I can find.

For the record though, this is why I avoid getting involved with the BDSM community at large...they sometimes take things waaaay too seriously. This is something I fun that I do, maybe 2-3 times a month...I try to keep it light hearted.

I was really just wanting info like "how is this stuff done", "what should I expect", etc....The afore mentioned dominant just didn't want me to be unprepared for what it would be like.

If I'm doing homework for a class at university, I don't see going to a more experienced person for some guidance/help as getting rid of the idea behind homework, so I don't see why someone coming here to ask for help is wrong.
