Somebody left a comment on my latest story that just has me shaking my head in wonder. The writer seems to be quite worked up about the subject of a woman having an affair. I can understand that it is a subject that should generate a certain amount of moral outrage, but please explain to me why a person would choose to read a story that contains the word "Affair" right in the title if it something that would make him so upset? I was under the impression that readers came to this site to relax while reading a naughty tale or two. To blow up in self-righteous rage over the actions of a completely fictional character is beyond my limited understanding.

Here is a link to the story that contains the comment. I don't mean this to be some kind of shameless plug. You can skip the story altogether if you want. I just wanted you to see what was written.

I read the comment Lonely. It seems they are mostly irate that this wasn't an AFFAIR... but a scene between husband and wife. They were expecting torrid and naughty and got sweet and loving

Ignore the butthead.

That comment smacks of personal hurt.
I checked the dude's profile - he gives his age as "over 60" and says he's a "former swinger". Maybe she swung right away *shrugs* who knows.

As to why he'd read it? Maybe he was hoping to see some comeuppance, maybe he reacted in a way he wasn't really expecting or maybe he's just bitter and twisted and likes venting his spleen. At least he had the guts to leave his name.

Have you posted anything in the "Loving Wives" category yet? A. Nony Mouse is a frequent commenter there, and regularly threatens to blow a blood vessel with his venom ;)

Just ignore the comment. It's not worth the effort to get upset about. Your writing has continued to improve. The plot is strong, and the characters are well written. You need to be proud at what you have accomplished.

Well done!!!

I've learned to ignore comments for the most part. Sure, the positive ones do feel good, and the negatives tend to not feel so good, but sooner or later you start dwelling on the negatives more than the positives, and you start shaping your work to fit what others feel it should be.

One of my stories in particular got savaged, but not for the reason I expected, all because it was "depressing". Totally ignoring the actual story point, I think.

And of course they were all signed Anon E. Mouse, so...*Shrugs*

Continue to do you, and be true to yourself, and everything else will fall in line LonelyMom.

;)

I thank you all for your comments. I have raised six teenagers and been through a divorce. I've heard my share of hateful comments. I wouldn't let anything like this bother me too much. I will give him credit for at least not hiding behind "anonymous". And he he left a negative comment on the previous chapter as well. So, at least he seems to be following the story.

I had an earlier story that generated a lot of negative email because the writers didn't like the subject that I was writing about. The story was clearly in the catagory that I was writing about - it wasn't like I pulled a surprise and foisted it on them.

I guess I just don't understand why anyone would choose to read a story in a catagory that they know they are going to find objectionable. There are several catagories of stories that I don't think very highly of, but I don't think that they should be eliminated. I just steer clear of them.

just ignore him

Delete the comment too, why continue looking at it.

Btw, I really really like your stories!
