I just finished writing a story and I submitted it, however, after rereading the original I have found several errors that need to be corrected. I pasted the text in the box privided instead of uploading the original file. Is there a way to edit the story once it has been submitted?

If you go to your View submissions page, is the word Pending a link? If so, click it and you can correct your story. It will place in back at the bottom of the queue meaning it will take a little longer to appear. Lately, its been taking about a week to post after being submitted.

Also for some of us, Pending, has not be a link lately. Is it for you?

There used to be, but they just recently changed the way submission works, and you can no longer edit a pending submission. The best thing to do would probably be to pm Laurel and ask her to delete it out of the queue for you and then you could resubmit the edited version.

Pending isn't a link for anyone any more, Ted. They changed it to where you must preview it before submitting, but once you submit it, you can't go in and edit it.

Yeah.

Make your edits and then resubmit the edited story as if it were new. Use the same title as the original but add the word (EDITED) or (REVISED) etc. after the title.

In the comments box below the big Paste box, leave a little note, like "Revised version of Attack of the Giant Balls" (or whatever) and they'll replace the old version with this one.

It'll take as long as a new submission does to be published, but that's how it's done.

Good luck.

Thank you, everyone.

I now realise I should have proof read the story more vigilantly. I will contact Lauren and attempt to get the errors corrected before the story is permenantly in place.

If anyone would be willing to read it before hand, I would welcome your critique.

Agnes . . .( I played a small role in that play) . . .

You also have a lot of editors available for you if you just go to the editor's forum. You can also request one on the volunteer editor's link iun the submissions guilelines page.

You should be able to find someone in the Editor's forum.

Edited to add that I did not see the previous post before I submitted my comments. Sorry

I vote for going back to the old way.

A couple of days ago there was a new feature that had a new "in progress" as a blue link if you weren't ready to submit, which let you go back and forth. My stunted computer skills made that feature a dream, but it's gone now. :(

I second that emotion.

Should I submit the edited version immediately or should I wait until the first one is accepted to submit the edited version?

I would also like to thank everyone for the suggestion of finding an editer on that forum. If this story does well I may write another, however I doubt seriously that I would write something so sinful again. Amongst the few friends I showed it to, it was not well recieved and some even called it blasphemous. I don't think they fully understand what I was trying to purvey. That aside, I had hoped the story would be a benifit to someone so I submitted it here.

In any event, I thank you all for your help and I hope you will read the story and enjoy it when it is approved.
