I've been promised a tablet by my sugar daddy and I'm somewhat lost as to where to start looking

I don't particularly want an Ipad because I can't stand apple products

Right now I'm tossing up between the Galaxy Tab, the Galaxy Note, the Google Nexus, Kindle HD 8.9 (not really considering this one too hard as the screen is a bit small) and the Asus Transformathingabob

I'm kinda leaning towards the Note because the S pen is so very nifty but I can't help wondering if I'm being too impressed by what is ultimately a gimmick

Mostly I want to use it for web browsing, reading comic books/ebooks, and movies. I'm not opposed to the idea of using it for work, but I already have an ultrabook I mostly use for that. At the same time I don't want to rule out the possibility of using it for work though.

What do you guys use? What do you use it for? What do you like, dislike about your product?

I have a Blackberry Playbook. I would not recommend it. Slow to boot up, and, it's the blackberry network so you can only get blackberry aps. Size is great though. I would probably get an iPad mini now if I were shopping for one.

Off topic: You have a sugar daddy?

*subscribe* will be trolling for intel here. I want to buy myself a present and I want something that fires up easier than a laptop and has a better keyboard for composing than this little crappy $500 POS cell phone I always use (NOT that I am PISSED or anything about how much I spent on it). I just need something for web browsing and recipe collecting, maybe something capable of doing some photo editing and streaming vid. I would like something that comes with its own network, but not a necessity. I also would like it to clean my house, but that's a second tier requirement because I don't want Roomba to feel I am replacing her.

Galaxy Tab2, I browse the internets with it when I'm being lazy in bed or on the couch, game apps ofcourse and i read lots of ebooks on it. If it's on the save-energy mode it'll last a while.
I'm enjoying it a lot, but i think the tab3 would be even better.

But you have an Etch-A-Sketch already...that's a classic!

i just call him that but he's really my fiance. which is kinda the same thing in a cynical world - hah!

consider the galaxy tab 7 or 8 inch, too if you don't mind android - just an option if you're open to non-apple also.

Galaxy Note, hands down.

i think i'm mostly torn between the note vs the nexus - they have extremely similar specs but the kicker is the S pen. The nexus has a nicer screen resolution too and runs about $50 cheaper. I suppose it comes down to whether i want a nicer screen or whether i want an S pen. BUT WHY CAN'T I HAVE BOTH

we'll probably end up buying the same one! if you plan to fiddle around with it a lot, write emails and stuff, i'd say go with the Note because the S pen is sooo amazing for manipulating the screen. It's extremely accurate and you can be very productive with it, as opposed to your usual touch screens which can be so fiddly and annoying.

I have an opening for someone needing a Sugar daddy.

October 1 deadline.

can i have 2?

i've heard good things about the tab 3 and the thing that makes it most attractive to me at the moment is the price point.

do you find reading ebooks on it a hassle at all due to the weight? i have a dedicated e-reader so i'm not so fussed about reading ebooks but just wondering

This what I use...

Ok, this is where I show my age. I loathe touchscreen, that's my downfall. I want something that is ultra portable at home or office and will connect to a nice keyboard via bluetooth or usb. I really want something that doesn't take eleventy million years to fire up. I have three laptops, ages one to four years, and they are too slow for my impatient self.

As someone who is very picky about screen resolution, but having played with both, to be honest it's not that noticeable of a difference, and for me, having the pen is much more important.

You rock Old Skool Cool.

Hey, I so fucking past due beer call from you that it ain't even funny.

I'm so Old Skool, it was New Skool when I was a kid...

And yes, we are way past due...been one hell of a busy summer...burning the candle at all 3 ends it feels like...
But I know this cool little Irish pub, I hear they have beer and grub and don't mind a couple tall good looking Old Skoolers hanging out...we'll get up soon, man...

then galaxy note is the way to go for you imo.

it's light, the S pen is amazzzzing (seriously it is like writing on paper) and it connects to a keyboard with bluetooth (i think. indie? confirm?)

and it's very fast and powerful, too

Then my decision is made for me!

Yep, confirmed.

Works for me. I haven't been there in ages. It's hard to get out of P'olis, you know,, cause there is just SO much happening here.

Almost as happening as the Ville...

i prefer this

I love fountain pens...that red sketch/spill looks pretty damn cool...the last time I tried out an ink cartridge style fountain tip pen, it did that to my shirt...but in black...

Is there a Penny's there?

I have a 25% off coupon on shoes and I don't want to ride all the way down Rivers.

Nope...you be mall-bound, my friend...unless you can get Kohl's or Shoe Carnival to take competitor coupons...
