I've been going nuts trying to find this story. It's almost certainly in Science Fiction and Fantasy. The basic premise is that a US Navy SEAL goes into stasis/suspended animation and wakes up in the Mass Effect game universe. He becomes an N7 soldier and joins the crew of the SV Normandy space ship.
