Why? In one word: vanity.

Every person has some degree of competetive drive operating within them. Each and every one of us tries to one-up someone. Whether we try to one-up our lovers, our neighbors, our friends, or shmucks we don't know - everyone is competing with someone else.

The really crazy thing is this: one could buy the rally edition of a Mini Cooper, custom built for about a thirtieth of that and then spend the remaining money on roving about. God knows that the cost of petrol would consume most of the remaining funds post-haste anyway.

Psahro, I don't remember the conversion right now but they just said that petro here is about $2.15 a gallon as a national average. I would love to have a mini- Cooper and do just that. Road trip.
