I would really appreciate any response to this query.

I recently had my second story published on Literotica - "Used and Abused: the Katie Chronicles Ch. 02". Immediately I noticed that there are a number of glaring errors that were not in my original submission. Specifically, there are a number of lines COMPLETELY MISSING from the first paragraph..a line actually stops mid-word and the next word is from a line further down the first paragraph. Secondly, the formatting is all screwed up - both the second half of the first page AND the second half of the third page have whole sections that are centered rather than left justified. Others may not think this is a big problem, but I feel it really takes away from the pace of the story when I see errors like this.

I have already written to Literotica to report the problem, but have received no response. Does ANYONE know how I can fix this? I would be eternally in your debt! (wink, wink!)

Thanks in advance,
Hugs & Kisses

emailing never works.

I would try sending Laurel a PM instead. She's always very helpful.

*thud*

Are you actually cloudy?

Thank you so much....could you tell me how to do this? I don't know Laurel and I'm not sure how to PM.

Thanks again,

You could use the report function at the end of the story. I did that with my second submission, which was missing the first half of the story.

Number one, don't believe them when they tell you you can upload a story as a word doc. Yes, you can, but you sure do risk losing a lot in translation. I have the feeling that they have editors who are supposed to check over the transcriptions but-- overworked and underpaid, you know...

I always, always submit by copy and pasting into the text window. What you see is more likely to be what you get that way.

Keep formatting to a minimum; I never use more that bold, italic and centering-- and I add it by hand as html tags in my text.

You can fix your own text by re-submitting it with the same title followed by the word (EDIT) and make a note about missing text in the notes box.

Those are my handy tips! :)

Thanks Omega!

Yes, I uploaded this as a Word document, mainly because of my use of italics and bold font.

As a total newbie to HTML, how could I tag such words if I were to simply cut and paste?

easy! Html tags are eclosed in < and >
For italics, you write this; <i>
to end the area with italics, you write; </i>

For bold, you write <b> and end that bold area with </b>
If you want something centered , use; <center> and </center>

Make sure you end every command, otherwise that text style will continue on. Always proofread your entire submission after you hit "Preview" and fix any tags that you missed.

I have never cut and paste my stories, once the story is finished I save it in a rich text file and then download that. In the past not knowing about the html indicators < and >, I have simply indicated any requests about formatting in the 'notes' box.

It's worked for me, but from now on I will definitely be using the html codes. I'm thinking about editing and resubmitting some of my older stories (they make me cringe when I read them), and that tip will come in very handy.

Good luck, Geth, and thank you Stella.

Aww, you're welcome!

I've been editing my old stories as well. :)

I paste into the story box and add html tags as well. I've had no problems since I started doing that.

Plus it keeps me from doing too much fancy formatting which I believe is a good idea. It's too easy to get fancy and bury the story under the formatting. At least for me.

Laurel and Manu are the site owners, and are very helpful for anything from story submission help to getting people banned for harassment. To PM Laurel, go to the top right-hand side of your screen where it says, "Welcome____. You last visited: ______. Private Messages: ___ Unread, Total ___." "Private Messages" is a hyperlink to your PM box. Click that. On the left-hand side of that screen, under "Messages," you'll see "Send New Message." Click that, fill in the blanks, and you're good to go. :)

Wow! Stella, I'm sooo clueless when it comes to HTML. This helps a lot. Thanks for posting it. I'll sometimes have italics in my stories; DJ has way more formatting than I do, simply to replace those words that are in all caps originally.

Thanks Diamond Girl...I have activated my private messaging function and have sent a message to Laurel. I appreciate the advice!
