HELP!!! Can't Sign In

Friends --

I don't know why this is happening but as of today I cannot sign into my account!

I've tried numerous ways including three browsers. My username is fine. My password is correct. My stories show up on the site.

BUT I CANNOT SIGN IN TO MY ACCOUNT!

I can sign into this forum. Obviously. Anybody have any ideas? Anyone every experienced this themselves.

Do you know if there is anyone o the site I can chat with or get in touch with?

Still the case? Earlier this afternoon I couldn't sign on the story side. Came back a half hour later and I could, although it thought about it for quite some time before it activated. Maybe giving it time to register will help. My hope was that some diagnostic and maintenance work was being done on the story side.

What does the site do when you try to log in? If it seems to get stuck loading the first page, then you probably just want to wait longer or try later. Like KeithD said, the site seemed pretty slow a little earlier.

I'M IN! I had to figure out how to switch over from "classic" to the new "beta" and they let me sign in.

Must be a bug.

Many online user support interfaces seem to be based upon this text.

I'm one of those semi-technologically competent people who, given enough time, usually can figure things out. But sometimes I stare at and shout at online support instructions, because I just want somebody to tell me what button I'm supposed to push.

I had the opposite problem, sort of. I was able to get onto the main site to read and submit stories and comments, but couldn't sign in to the bulletin boards with the same ID and password. I still can't. So I created a different name and login for the boards and, obviously, I have been successful. So my BB name is Richard Wark, my writer's name is Wark2002.

Help. I tried to insert an image into my profile but it wouldn’t accept it and asked me to sign into my profile again. Then ignored my automatic password (from my keychain). So I requested to change password via my email, used the URL supplied, saved new password and put in the scrambled activation code to ensure I'm not a robot, but will not accept the new password. I've done this dozens of times now and it won't work, so I'm locked out of my account. Sometimes I get a message about cookies, I have checked my browser cookies and they are set precisely as Apple recommends, which is exactly how they have set for the last decade.

Yet I can log into this forum using my keychain password.

Any advice on how to access my account?

I was able to login just now, but I have had this problem before.
In the past when they run maintenance on this site it stalls some areas, especially for login.
I say try again later. If you're able to post in the message boards and your stories are still up, then everything is fine you'll just need to come back later and try again.

The login functions on this site seem to have persistent problems. The story side seldom malfunctions, but I give up on the author forum. I have to log in email by email the cookies don't persist.

Nope. Had to log back in for this post.

The problems started around the time they deprecated Explorer 11. There was a period where no logins worked, and then login problems in the forum became persistent. At least for me. Cleaning out all history and cookies solves it (or did), but that takes a lot of stuff away, and I have to reestablish myself on a multitude of sites again. Pain in the ass! It's become easier to just login here.

Tried a couple of times during the day, even tried to open a new account using a new name, new email address and passwords, so I can at least post stories and comment on reads, but can’t seem to get in doing that either. Very frustrating!

Yes, AloneTooLong, we are not alone (no humour intended). So odd that we can access the forum, our only access, yet cannot access our main account or even open a new account in desperation. Clearly something is not right.

About a month ago I tried to replace a short story, of about 13k words with a rewritten version, only for it to languish in the "on hold" category for 2 weeks without movement, so I deleted the update and removed the original as it was clearly now out of date.

Fortunately there are other sites on which we can still post our stories.

I have not been able to access the 'author' side for several weeks; attempting to 'retrieve' the password is not successful; like you attempting to start a new account is nearly impossible (I gave up on that idea). I can 'view' the account, I just can't get into the account. And getting the bulletin board to 'remember' my presence here, nope-now I must 'sign in' every day.

Finally!!!! managed to reset my password (on the story side) today. After multiple attempts, most of which ended with some sort of stupid message (you need to accept cookies, for example).

Am getting quite pissed off now. Even tried to enter as a newbie and keep getting a message that I need to allow cookies, and I've tried every cookie combination except dunking my rich tea until drop off. And nix.

No luck here either, one day I am able to get to login and it tells me I have an invalid password, I have always had the same password yet I get this? I just don't think they care. Maybe they make money from each story? I know my stories got hacked and they are on other sites like in Holland? I just want to get out of Lit.
