Okay,as some of you users may know I'm a tattoo artist, and I have a really ... odd... order placed in for this ink virgin, that came into my shop today. She wants a sexy cartoon girl, but I have to kinda 'create' it. WHAT THE HELL! I can't even get my stories published in Lit, so HOW am I supposed to think of a character not done before? If ANYONE has an ideas, that might help me, IT WOULD SAVE MY LIFE! Thanks, Marceline the Vampire queen. ;)

Change Jessica Rabbit somehow?

How long have you been doing tattoos?
Every artist I know is able to freehand draw to spec.

What kind of a girl tattoo would you like on you? Work from there.

That was my first though too. Maybe something like you would find from googling fantasy art. Lots of half naked women in loincloths and whatnot.

What the fuck?

Most tattoo artists have some drawing ability. The successful ones at least. Lean on that drawing ability and use your imagination. Find some inspiration online and create something you... well, its no use pretending anymore. I just realized I don't care.

I maybe a tattoo artist, but I've got the mind of a sixteen year old, I have an INSANE three year old, and I'm in a rut this once. I can free hand, but she wants something that tells a story. It can't be a warrior, a princess, ugly OR a cartoon character. I've tried to do everything, but she wants her first tat, PERFECT. I thought about doing jessica rabbit, with green hair, and hold rogers' head all bloody, but it's just ... not right. :(

I didn't see where she said she couldn't draw, just that she didn't have a good idea of what kind of cartoon to draw.

tracing paper helps out alot you know lol

Where I come from, you sit with your tattooist, and between the both of you work out a pic.
Then he/she goes and fleshes it out.... and a few weeks or months later, you end up with something.

Sounds like you need to talk to your client.
You said they are a tattoo virgin, then nobody getting their first tattoo should get something random without some thought into it.

A good tattoo artist would have discussed this with the client before accepting a job he/she is not up to.
Not that I am saying you are not, its just the logical option.

I don't know you, but allow me to welcome you to the GB by pointing out that you have the worst sigline I've ever seen.

I was just trying to get honest suggestions, and I've tried to leave it alone, but you make ONE more unnecessary nasty comment, I'll bring up YOUR ink. ;)

I'll spare you the trouble....
The ink you see pictured in my av, is EXACTLY the same tattoo that I never knew my brother had.
When he died, in 1997, I went to the funeral home with his favourite clothes to dress his body.... it was my way of honouring him.... and I saw his tattoo for the first time.
He lived in quite a small town, with only one tattooist - so I travelled there after his funeral and had the artist do the exact same tatt on me.
I don't care that it looks like it does. The meaning behind it is far deeper.

That's the provenance

There is nothing wrong with telling her you don't know what she want's other than slutty. Sketch out 4 things and ask if any are in the ballpark. Then refine it down.

She doesn't want a bad tattoo any more than you want to give her one. Talk to her.

If what you said is true, I'm terribly sorry. I've most likely crossed a line for you, and I deeply regret being a bitch, and I myself would go CRAZY without my brother.

Of course it's true!
You are a tattoo artist, right?
So you know that nobody would get ink that they were not totally thrilled with if there weren't a damned good reason - especially if they already have 11 others.
Or if they were completely stupid.... which, despite the crap on here, I have never been accused of being.
