How do you propose to pay for things like streets and bridges? Do you expect someone else to pay for the road that leads to your driveway?

How do u propse we pay for ibama care?

How dothe we support the obama welfare?

Since you have never paid taxes in your life, I don't see why you care about any of this.

We've had this discussion before and you demonstrated no understanding of taxes or the benefits you happily consume. All you seem to be concerned with is taking from others, so your easy life is not threatened.

A while ago you were yammering about the greatness of Florida not having sales tax. Now you don't want it to have property taxes either. Why not just abolish all taxes?

Except for not being able to get her car out of the driveway, it wouldn't actually affect her life on a daily basis.

When you're too fat to leave you're house those things don't matter.

Also one time jenn saw a black person using a bridge.

Jenn's not fat, but I'm not sure about her long distance vision.

Wow, can't believe I find myself in agreement with you, Jen. Though I don't see it as an issue of JUST property taxes, the whole damn revenue system from the Federal down to the City level needs to be streamlined and refined. We have far too many individual taxes, some are redundant, and others are just plain oppressive.

What government service which you currently consume are you willing to reduce, as part of the tax reduction you advocate?

Now you're talking with the absolutes of a thoroughly indoctrinated Democrat. Everything has to tie back into smaller government and fewer programs.

Start with the wealthy and work your way down. The wealthy have too many tax shelters and loopholes that muddy the system, get rid of them ALL and the tax system starts becoming simpler.

Then there are the corporations that get to split into so many smaller shell companies as to be damn near impossible to link to one another, those can be next on the list since they enjoy tax breaks too. Moving jobs out of our country? Sorry Charlie, HEAVY import tariff time when you wanna bring those inferior products back here. Offshore company wants to open an office here? Not unless you bring plenty of jobs. You're not just gonna milk our economy and send the money overseas, time for higher taxes!

Once we've gotten rid of the loopholes and unnecessary exemptions, we can then target pointless and excessive domestic taxes and redundant government programs/subsidies. There's TONS of those that serve no other purpose than to be holding areas for money while the government waits for the allotted time to pass so they can appropriate the money back into the General Fund and use it as they please.

Good enough for you? Or would you like me to slip from common sense mode into a more partisan mindset? I can do that for you, you know. I can be the Communist Democrat or I can be the heartless Republican Elitist... Take your pick.

The question was for you specifically, not every one else. What government service would you forgo, in exchange for lower taxes. Don't feel special. I ask everyone this question. So far, no one has answered.

My target is NOT government services, AT ALL, unless they are redundant, so take your pick. That said, SUBSIDIES, not SERVICES, are the biggest leech on the country's revenue, second to WAR.

As for what services I'd get rid of? Well, here's a perfect example... Everybody is bitching about how the new healthcare law is going to affect medicare. Seriously? If the two parties would quit bitching and bickering long enough to sort out the problems in Obamacare, Medicare itself would become OBSOLETE because everyone would be insured and supplemental care from the government would be unnecessary.

Follow me now?

I hope so, because I'm not going to play the bickering game and come out and say "we should close this or that" specifically. I've played it before, and nobody wins. It's just an endless circular argument that brings dogma and political bias into the fray. Use common sense for once instead of holding to strict party lines, and find a question that steps outside the talking points of the last presidential debates.

Now, if you wanna talk politics, and why I feel the way I do about them, I'll be happy to answer you more specifically in a PM, where the two of us can converse, uninterrupted by the more radical elements here, on BOTH sides of the fence.

Peace,
Winter

Now, it's time to get back to taxes. Our tax system is so muddied right now that we waste more money processing taxes than is necessary.

Take tax refunds, for example: The government spends tens of millions every year just to pay IRS employees to process refunds. Are you serious?

I mean, I like my tax refund just as much as the next person, but c'mon! If they'd get the damn taxes right, from the beginning, then the government wouldn't have need to refund our money because they took too much, and they wouldn't have to pay the agents for processing paperwork that is ultimately unnecessary.
