You can't get the avatar (pic under your name) til you have 100 post. There are alot of good answers on the How To board.

What Gunner said about the Avatar under the name.

As to attachments, it's easy to miss but below the box provided for the text to a post (scroll down), there is a browse button. Click that, then follow your directory tree to your file. Double-click on the file name. You'll see part of the path showing in the Browse window. Then single-click the "Submit Reply" button.

Word of caution. Pic can't be larger than 800pixels wide OR 600 tall, either one. Also can't be larger than 102K. Saves a lot of frustration if you have it Lit-sized first.
