Help! I currently am starting my life over in the Pittsburgh and feel as though I am in exile. I am an intelligent man that is looking to get back the past 12 years of his life. I want to rediscover the tingle of a first kiss, the heat of the moment and even the awkwardness of a morning after. I want new smells and tastes. New touches and new shapes. I would love to talk about this with new friends online, or in real life. Whichever way. I need to get out of my exile!

Yep, welcome. :) And I agree, it is tricky to get to know people - the only people I've met since I moved here a year ago have been people belonging to a writers' group I joined. Although, if you like doing the clubbing thing I've heard there are a lot of cool clubs in the city.

Not from PA, but understand that exile concept all too well.

Exciting (albeit rough occasionally) times await you.

Best of luck

I'm 37 and not sure if I remember what clubbing is anymore.

Hell, I'm 32 and don't remember what clubbing is anymore :D

Lol. I never did the clubbing thing in the first place since I'm allergic to cigarette smoke and don't like the taste of alcohol or particularly care for dancing, but it's not like it's a complicated activity. You get dressed up, go there, drink, and attempt to pick somebody up by chatting with them, buying them a drink, or dancing with them.

LOL...and hope that they are what they seem to be....and you don't wind up taking home a freak....

DrG....Pittsburgh shouldn't be that rough...try moving to Reading :p a dying city indeed!

Dr. G:

beyond clubs there are many good bars with adult patrons/themes...

but if you're looking to make friends and broaden your network try getting involved with like-minded folks in Pittsburgh. Great groups i

ski club
http://pittsburghskiclub.org/

rollerblading
http://www.skatepittsburgh.com/

tennis leagues and ladders http://www.city.pittsburgh.pa.us/parks/html/tennis.html

http://users.telerama.com/~johnv/tennis/tennis11.htm

plus ball room dancing, biking, rowing, hiking, gardening (pittsburgh has the most city-space gardens per capita in the country), film festivals, etc., etc.. Google for more.

Through these you'll no doubt find active, willing partners to pursue other activities.

Ohhh, these too:

tons of arts outlets...check out

wyep for good music and arts calendar on site:
http://www.wyep.org/

check the free CityPaper in bars, coffee shops, ,etc as well as Post Gazette for more arts and entertainment.

If you're looking to date, Match and Yahoo have alot of sincere people in our age bracket...and rumor has it there are other sites with people of varied interests alive and well here too.

While I've never been divorced, I've come out of some long term relationships a little worse for wear, but the cycle of self improvement (lose a little weight, workout a little more, eat a little better, get more involved) and eventually good things just happen.

Good luck.

I could have used this same advise 6 years ago.
