Like the title says, I'm a straight guy, with basically no insight into what it means to be a gay woman. I'm writing a story with a lesbian, a bisexual woman, and a straight guy, and the only character I feel like I have a good handle on is, unsurprisingly, the straight guy. I'd love to get help from some women on the other side of the aisle.
The question in particular that I have is:
What is the appeal of a seeing your partner in a state of partial undressed (say in just her bra and panties)?
Answering this as a straight guy, the appeal is twofold: the intimacy of the apparel is both a sexual invitation and a trusting reveal; and there is a certain alien-ness about that particular clothing.
I imagine that the first point would hold for you, too, but the second point doesn't seem to translate. I can see how fine lingerie could be equally appealing for you as for me, but what about simple, run-of-the-mill apparel?
And, yes, I know that I am woefully ignorant, and I've probably said about ten offensive things. Please understand that this is me trying to write accurate characters and to, more importantly, understand people different from me.
This is simply life experience that I don't have, and I don't want to make assumptions.
I appreciate any input you might have!
