Hello, have I been banned?

Hi ~

I am unsure if this is the correct place to ask this ... but will post my issue and my question here ...

I am a somewhat new Lit member (since August 2022), and when I read stories I have commented to them, and also sent them a pvt message. Yesterday I started getting a message from Lit that popped up stating that I have been banned from sending authors pvt messages about their stories. I am not sure why. I have only given positive feedback. The message says I may have been spamming...but I am sure I have not been. Can someone please help? (or let me know how to contact someone about the issue?)

I tried sending a message to Lit, but it does not let me.

Thank you for whatever help anyone can give me.

I will try to post a picture of the message I am receiving ...

sometimes a VPN can cause that issue.
Also some users have had their IPs banned from the site, so if you share an IP with someone who is banned that could be a cause?

Thank you for responding. I had posted this on 2different forums and couldn't find this one again to let people know that my issue got resolved.

(And if you were the one to help resolve it, then thank you again!)

At any rate, I was able to leave an author a Pvt message on their story after reading it. 😊

I don't have VPN...so am unsure why the IP was banned. I think it happened directly when I was sending another author a 2nd message right after I had sent the first (I forgot to say something in the 1st message)....so perhaps that was why the system banned me?

Anyway, it's fixed now!!

I have seen spam filters be overly active so glad its fixed though. Computer programs at my work has been overzealous about things with peoples accounts and has been blocking things it shouldn't.(its all automated...so its not someone going mwa hahahaha ban them alllll) So maybe the spam filter here is its cousin? lol

It might be a cousin indeed lol.

Though seriously, I was sure that at some point it would be fixed (or not). For me, it's a way to give feedback to some of the wonderful authors on this site beyond the public comment box. (I find I can leave a more detailed message via the "Send Private Message" tool. I suspect a lot of other readers don't really want to hear me talking about technical aspects of writing in the comments lol.)

I also suspected that it was the auto spam routine that determined something was amiss (even though it was mistaken). If it were not there, then who knows what kind of spam would get through ... so I think its better to have it than not have it.

Anyway ... I am rambling ... and doing a bit of work-avoidance!

The Private Feedback system allows one message to an author, and then assumes:

a) you have provided your own email address, and have allowed replies; and therefore:

b) if the author chooses to continue a conversation it will be done privately, outside Lit.

Note - some authors don't allow Private Feedback.

In other words, the system prevents multiple messages.

Oh I see. Then that is indeed why the system thought I was spamming. Because in essence I WAS! Omg. Bad me! I will remember that for the next time. I will also let some others know why they might have been banned as well. (I think now that you mentioned what you just said, I think I now recall reading something about that.)

Thank you again. :)
