I hear there's a move afoot to legalize marijuana over there. I guess that a trip to Canada will take on a whole new meaning for lots of folks, now.

It would be nice. Those people need something to do. It would certainly boost tourism. :)

Well, it was a reccomendation from our senate. Which is sort of like our version of President Bush. Government position, mainly ceremonial but doesn't influence who actually makes decisions.

okay yes they are voteing on legalizeing it but there will be rules

you cannot grow it yourself
still illegal to sell on the streets
you must have a licence to sell it and it's going to be just as expencive as if not more then cigerets this way the government makes money off of it.
all alcohol rules must be adheared to as well so
can only smoke in your own home or designated areas (and you can't even find normal cig smokeing sections in most places in Canada try finding one where you can smoke that lol)
no smokeing in public, no driveing if you are under the influance. (still unsure if that is zero tolerance or not though)

and you must be over 16 to buy or use it.

so yes it may be legal soon but only so the government can make money and hops that less people will do it.

They seem to think it will cut down on the grow operations...hmm.

And save money on enforcing a relatively useless law. I dont' smoke it, but I don't see any harm in it either. It's no more or less dangerous than cigarettes and alcohol. As long as they enforce an age limit.

PS Weevil, that sig is funny.

Yes, that makes perfect fucking sense - 19 to buy cigarettes and booze but lets let them get high at 16.

If you are caught drinking and driving, you blood alcohol level must be .08; If you smoked+drank and drove, then the level must be .04.

I thought being 16 was strange too but let's face it, most who pick it up do so at a younger age.

I smoke on occasion and I also drink. I firmly believe that alcohol is a much more destructive drug.

Most who pick up drinking or smoking cigarettes do so at a younger age as well - that is much too young.
