heart cathaters: the precursor legacy

ok, so it's been a good 15 years since i had one, and back then they put you to sleep when they did a heart cathater. how has progress's marching on changed the procedure since then? do they still put you out before they do it or have they moved past that stage?

oh, and i learned something while i was out and about: a transplanted heart valve harvested from a deceased human being will last, on average, 10 to 12 years. i don't know about you, that is very interesting to me.
