Live broadcasts show U.S. Army have seized the downtown Baghdad Presidential Palace, Ministry of Information, The Review area, the El Rasheed Hotel, key governemnt buildings, and the usual reporters on the building overlooking the turnaround with the statue, can see American tanks securing the area.
They are flying the American Flag from the Palace.

Will it be a battle, or a series of "strokes"? :D

They report about 30 minutes ago on CNN

That the coalation controls the Televison and Radio in Baghdad

The Pentagon Confirms a battle for Baghdad..

65 heavy tanks, 45 IFVs, a full brigade.

It's a stand and fight scenerio.

Or run and hide for the Iraqi Special Repubiclan Guard which I can see them doing

Striking from behind like the cowards they are

Vietnam again?

I don't think so

There is a different breed of soldiers in the field now

The soldiers should mosey on over to the Palestine hotel and say hello to the reporters who said they weren't anywhere near Baghdad.

Correction....

The American flag will not be flown due to respect for the Iraqi people. The Battalion Commander is going to take a shower in Hussein's bedroom bath, and his troops are lining up to do the same.
Hoah!

I heard it live...

The two officers in charge showed the flag, as they both went to U of G together.
They said they'd fly it soon, that oughta' confuse the RGs!

Living through history...

It'll be interesting to see how historians on both political fringes will record this.
Militarily, they'll be teaching this for the next 200 years!

If there is a world left :D

And I believe there will be :D

RG....Republican Guard and stragglers..

My bad.
The UK Commander is urging the leadership to surrender. It's only 11a.m. there, so it'll be a long day.
I think they may tag the palace, and withdraw in force leaving devices behind to monitor coming and goings for the Predators.

Ka-Boom

**KABOOM** Bye bye Saddam statue.

Oh, the Info Minister just informed me that they have slaughtered 75% of the US troops.

U.S. tanks and armored vehicles launch an attack on central Baghdad
• U.S. Army Major: 'The other day was just an incursion. This is for real'
• Embedded reporter: U.S. strike to plant flag in center of downtown, take Al-Rashid Hotel, Information Ministry
• Presidential palace seized by U.S. forces, tanks on parade field

Iraqi Info Officer say's "nothing to see."

Two officers at the parade grounds were told of the statement, and they said they'd walk over and talk to him.
Tanks also blew up the big statue of Insane at the grand parade grounds.
They said they were here to stay, and they were waiting to install the new government.

If it wasn't for who he worked for I think he could have a great career in comedy here in the states. That Info minister always cracks me up.

Minister of Information press statements...

I wonder what Saturday Night Live will do with him in one of their shows.

LOL

so true

In the Headlines

Settle Down Baghdad is safe

75% of attacking troops killed

ect ect

I can see it now, just like they did with Jim Carrey on In Living Color quite a few times... Info Minister talking and raving about how the Americans aren't here and they are being defeated easily. Behind him a US soldier just happens to walk behind him and sees the camera. US gets on his handset talking lively. Proceeds to dance around behind the Minister while waiting for backup. Iraqi soldiers chase after him, off camera you hear beating sounds then 3 gunshots, US soldier walks back into view mimicing the Ministers movements and mocking him. A platoon of soldiers now come to join the other soldier. They proceed to mock a little more while the Minister keeps ranting and raving about the non US presence. After this happens for a bit the soldiers finally walk up to the Minister tap him on the shoulder and take him off into the sunset screaming and yelling " What you see now is all a Hollywood production!! I am not in danger, this is all false!!".

Bagpipes In Basra! Good Show!

Lieutenant William Colquhoun had unpacked his bagpipes and sat on the turret of his Warrior waiting for the order to advance. As the sun attempted to poke through smoke rolling lazily across desolate marshland stretching away on either side of the bridge, wading birds were picking their way among the long grasses.

As he began to play, the sound of Scotland the Brave drifted across the bridge towards the city, competing with the clatter of rotor blades as four Cobra helicopters raced in to join the attack.
