OK, Literotica people, a once in many lifetimes opportunity to buy oceanfront property in Hawaii for a total payment of $39.95! There is one little catch, you may have to wait a while to occupy your property. Read it and weep! Comment?

HONOLULU - Real estate is often a long-term investment. But 10,000 years?

Lo'ihi Development Co. will soon start offering oceanview lots speculators won't even be able to stand on for many millennia. That's because they're currently submerged more than 3,000 feet below sea level — on an underwater volcano called Lo'ihi, located about 20 miles southeast of the Big Island.

A Web site will be renovated in the next couple of weeks to officially begin selling parcels for an introductory price of $39.95. Buyers will receive a brochure and a "deed," but much like Internet groups that claim to sell stars, they probably can't call themselves owners.

Without even knowing what this topic was about, I started thinking about how Hawaii is a center of growth for the Pacific ocean bed, and how it wouldn't sink under the ocean so long as the volcanos keep erupting (and how the smaller islands are dead volcanos that are sinking into the ocean).

I don't know about the small islands sinking, but the center volcano in the big island is the worlds tallest mountain and it is still active. [Mt. Everest is the highest mountain in the world, but Killeaua starts on the ocean floor and is more than 24,000 feet tall.]

Apparently the entire Hawaiian island chain is the basic result of a 'hot spot' in a tectonic plate. The Hawaiian islands were formed, one at a time, as a result of tectonic drift.

Amyjow, this is a chance to buy an oceanfront lot at a steal of a price, provided that you plan to live some 10,000 or so years until the volcano breaks the surface of the ocean.

Ok. By using the word "sinking" I actually meant eroding away by the tides and stuff. So shoot me.

How much real estate do I get? I want to build an underwater home.

The size of the parcels is not discussed. However, the current situation is that the land is under 3,000 feet of ocean and intimately involved with an active volcano.

Aren't sea levels expected to rise though? It's all so much speculation.

Are you saying it's wet and hot?

Well, yes. However, if you just happen to have a deep sea rescue craft tucked in a corner of your garage, this could be the opportunity of a lifetime!

I think I'm gonna start selling deeds for cubic miles of vacuum where you can park your future space trailer.

Sorry. Maybe I got sidetracked. (good one Tx :D; would an old MGB suffice RR? )

No, actually and despite what you may have heard, MGBs were imported from England via boat, they didn't drive them here.
