The only one that I can say with certainty was just over two years ago. My dog, Rosie, somehow suffered a severed spine and I had to say goodbye to her. She seemed fine, stepped down off the couch, gave a yelp, then collapsed, her back legs completely useless. The emergency surgery couldn't even be done in my city and the closest place was three hours away. It would have also cost a minimum of $30,000 for the surgery alone, then months of very expensive rehab teaching her to walk again.

I was just completely broken. If an animal can be a soul mate, Rosie was mine. She was sweet, annoying, goofy, and loving. She was known for a couple of things in particular; she wanted to be in physical contact with someone at all times (even just a paw touching me or someone she liked) and her horrifically bad flatulence. I swear, this dog tapped into some other universe made up of farts only, and she was only too happy to share it.

Later that night I was sitting at my desk, feeling utterly lost and just looking at her photos, I felt her head rest on my leg like so many other times. Out of reflex, I reached down to pet her and then the most unholy blast of ass gas hit me. I literally had to flee my office and go outside into the cold, fresh air. My eyes were watering and my nose was running. And then I started to laugh and I just couldn't stop. She just had to come back and say goodbye in her own special way, and after that one and only encounter, she never visited me again.

She didn't happen to be a Boston terrier, did she? They are known for their gas.

I dream about my dog who passed away nearly seven years ago all the time. They are truly a part of the family.

She was a 70 pound brindle something something. Our veterinarian thought she could have been either a Mountain Cur or Plott Hound mixed with something else.

My wife often has visions and sees faces in the twilight between being awake and asleep.

Most of the time there is nothing we can connect them with but there have been some eerie coincidences we’ve discovered later in the day.

Just a couple of examples:
She’s been visited by friends and family who have died before hearing of their passing. One early morning she woke up very upset and told me she was seeing the dirt and dust covered faces of a whole bunch of Asian men - later that day we saw a news story about a Chinese mining accident that killed around 30 miners.

For some odd reason sleeping with the closet door open increases the visions, so it’s a big issue for her that we always keep it closed.

I had a high school friend who had been given a gray parrot just before he was diagnosed with terminal cancer. The parrot was young and wasn’t much of a talker until after my friend died.

A few days after he passed the parrot started using his voice, calling everyone in the family…

“Mom!”

“Dad!”

Or telling the confused dog to shut up.

I lived in a house that had others than the living in it. Mostly footsteps, voices, sound of doors opening and closing, feeling someone brush against you, and I saw a women walking from one room to the other but could also see the wall she was walking in front of.

I have witnessed something I can't explain, I'll say that. My wife claims she had seen spirits in the past. I'm not a believer but it's something about my wife I've never challenged.

We lived in a townhome and she'd told me she'd seen two spirits in the kid's room, what looked like a woman and a child. She didn't appear to be concerned as she believed they were benevolent.

Months later, my wife and I were upstairs in the master bedroom with our three-year-old son. She was keeping him amused while I ironed my uniform. I finished, hung the shirt, unplugged and took the hot iron into the bathroom to drain the water.

As I exit, my son is loose, he's taken the outlet child cap off the dresser where the fish tank is. He approached the outlet to plug it in and just as my wife and I reached out to stop him, the fish tank filter pump shut off.

I covered the outlet and investigated the fish tank. Long story short - the breaker had popped shutting off power to the room. The filter pump was the only load on the circuit. I reset the breaker, and everything worked. I'm a technician, a pretty logical fella. I cannot account for the outage. There had been no lights on or other load on the circuit. It never failed again in the remaining years we were stationed there.

Paranormal or not, it was pretty damn weird.

I don’t really have any paranormal stories other than the time I heard a clip of a Yoko Ono song.
