I'd never said, "Dixon" out loud until a couple of days ago (while speaking to a couple of Board members). I made up the name "Dixon" over a year ago, but the only way I'd ever expressed it before was with a keyboard, so when I recently had occasion to speak it out loud it sounded odd, and strange. I felt a tinge guilty, saying "Hi, this is Dixon", like I was lying to myself about who I was.
The feeling only lasted a second, and then it felt fine. But there was a definite out-of-body moment there, and all because I'd spoken a word I'd only ever printed before. (And that was just "Dixon". I've yet to say "Carter Lee".)
I know many of you converse with other Lit members from time to time, and you've probably used your "name" often -- but was there a first time when it felt odd?

That's "Dixon". Like "Nixon", but without the "Dick".
