Have you ever had a dream that stuck with you for days afterwards?

I normally don't remember dreams in any detail at all. Sometimes for only a few minutes after I wake up.

But a couple of nights ago, I had one that is still there. I still remember much of in some detail ... the images, even some of the dialog. What's particularly (or peculiarly) striking is that not a single element (places, people, buildings) relates to my real life in any way.

Not a disturbing dream or nightmare, somewhat pleasant in fact. Very confusing and unlikely to ever happen, but realistic in a movie kind of way. Full color, sound, background detail ....

I posted this in another thread, but felt it was applicable here;

In dream...

Was having a sex party with another couple. No sharing, just each couple enjoying their SO in front of the other couple.

Well, my SO and I were a little late getting started. We watched the other couple get started and were turned on by that. My SO asked for some flavored lube and then to make the room warmer. I stepped out into the other room and grabbed the lube and a small blanket (and my phone for some reason?).

When I got back to the room, my SO was suddenly not in the mood, and the other couple had just finished. I tried to talk my SO into a quickie, but it was a no-go. I still had a rock mounted on me and was determined to use it properly.

I had a friend who passed away at a very young age from cancer. (Side note : fuck cancer!). He and I worked together and a bunch of friends always did things together. I think of him often when working on boats or paddling in the canoes or kayaks.

In the dream, Rob and I were all standing around our kitchen with friends. We’re just having a beer together and shooting the shit. There comes a point where he puts his glass on the counter and says he has to go and came over to give me a hug. It is at that point that I awoke. I could still feel the hug like it was real. It was an unsettling and comforting feeling all at the same time. I told his widow about the experience. She thought about it for a minute and told me that she thought that it was wonderful that he’d stopped by to see me.

A year or so ago, I had a dream that my girlfriend was run over by a bus; since she cycles a lot for her job and the traffic around here is a nightmare at times, this is a very real possibility, and I still can't bear the thought of her being out there in it. Every time I see a bus now I get shivers.

I've never been able to re-enter a dream I've awoken from, no matter how hard I've tried. So many times I've tried...

I dream almost nightly. Forget most within a few minutes of waking, but have had quite a few stay with me. I had one that involved the old man from Phantasm stalking me. If you ever saw that movie you would already know how fucking terrifying that dream would be lol.

Yep. I often pick up in dreams where I left off when I woke up. Some repeats too. Then there are the premonition dreams and the dream walking dreams. My night time is way more vivid than my wake time. Prettier colors too.
