I am finding it remarkable how lit's racist fucksticks have continued to sink beneath even the lowest of my expectations. When I first joined, perhaps because I hadn't really been exposed to people like them, I did entertain that it was simply a matter of divergent viewpoints, and that I would be able to engage and listen and understand. It also felt more like a general consensus - there was a mythology for a while that there was more to busybody than met the eye (I think I'll finger Perg for that one) (btw, there is not more there - he is a bitter, hateful, and hated little man who can't speak or spell in his real life, too, which is why he needs to post his racist bile here) (I'm sure you're shocked).

I can't remember when the shift happened, but for years it has been clear that they are motivated only by an intense and cowardly fear (which always manifests as hate) and growing sense of irrelevance. I watched as they got angrier and angrier to see a black man run the country, as posts and threads became more spittle-flecked and detached from reality.

When I watched them coalesce around Trump and defend his every sick and oafish move, glad for a daddy but too cowardly to admit it out loud, I entered a stage of pure revulsion. It was difficult for me - I do not like to feel such a concentrated ray of negativity towards a fellow human, but I also have basic expectations of decency for others that will not be compromised. And each news cycle brings a new low - sometimes it seems that the chief pussy grabber's moves were engineered to bring GOP loyalists even closer to rock bottom.

But even as recently as a few weeks ago, I probably would have been surprised to learn that they were literally and openly siding with nazis. Jesus christ.

if there's one thing i found a little heartening is the rejection of the neo-nazi and alt right groups by the main body of protesters against the removal of the statue.

as for the hate-spewers here, they're on ignore. i'm too old and life's too short for me to bother engaging with them or reading their bile on this site. i used to take issue with these kind of views on the net but leave it now for others to beat their heads against a brick wall. in the meat world? if i come up against it, i still take issue.

My take on the latest events is that nobody likes seeing thugs claiming to represent either liberals, or conservatives while doing stupid or vile stuff.
Most people are in the middl. of the spectrum.

Unfortunately, when such events occur (regardless of side) the opposite political party takes advantage and tries to demonize their adversary.

That is my usual interpretation of many such GB threads.
Which can range from annoying to comical, but always eye-rolling.

Your initial surprise is understandable, because reasonable people have a difficult time understanding unreasonable behavior.

Thankfully, and fortunately for most, the level of stupidity displayed by a few here is not something they’re confronted with frequently in their daily lives.

The staunch, stupid Republicans - Ishmael, Busybooby, gump, vette, and miles being the more ludicrous of the bunch - who continue to cheer for “Trump”, and either excuse his monumental failings and blunders as mere foibles, or pull out the standard issue ‘but, Obama!’, ‘her EMAILS!’, ‘BENGHAZI!!!’, etc, are indeed a special brand of stupid. They wrap themselves in their team colours, blame the ‘Left’ for all the shortcomings and failings of the 'Right', regurgitate the cavalcade of empty one liners and team slogans about bringing back America - whatever that means - even as the whole stadium crumbles around them. ‘Yeah! Our team....blame the left!’

When you look at the collective postings of those mentioned above, you'll find they're are unwaveringly and consistently stupid, in fact one can almost depend on their stupidity. Because of this, one shouldn't be too surprised at all by their justifications and excuses regarding the white supremacists, and the violence in Charlottesville.
Seriously, some folks figure Ishmael posts almost exclusively while wearing a hood and Franzia-stained sheet.
