Damn good for you Angel... You go girl!

I don't personally know anyone who "died" from tobacco use directly.........but of other things related that can be symptomaticly caused by it (i.e.heart disease, etc...)

Hoo Rah for you Angel, I am on the same path, trying to cut down and then quit for good myself. So Kudos to you Angel and keep it up.

Thanks HSW & Chuckus. I've been smoking since the age of 9, pack a day since 14.

So In total that is 13 years I have smoked and I am only 22.
Sad.

I feel much better having cut down. I can walk more than a few yards without panting ::grin:: And I can taste stuff alot better. Also my perpetual plegm (Sp) problem has gone away...

You go Chuckus, good luck!
Wanna be quit buddies? lol

My husband's dad died from lung cancer when my husband was five years old.

On a related issue, I don't believe that these days, it is the tobacco companies' fault. It's well known now that smoking is hazardous.

I agree whole heartedly with you WS, that is true. It is a known fact that smoking is bad for you, no one to blame but ourselves............I take full responsibility for my smoking

I agree. I think it's ludicrous (SP) that tobacco companies are being sued and forced to pay. I mean HELLO YOU KNOW what you are getting into when you light up!

Even if you were born when tobacco companies promoted smoking as healthy even when their own research showed it was more addictive than heroin and caused cancer and heart disease?

Yes. I was taught before I smoked why I shouldn't. I knew I shouldn't and I chose to. *I* smoked. I chose it. I am the one who put myself in the position to possibly die from it. That is my fault and nobody elses.

Incentives...

Uh...

Incentive 1.

You go a day without smoking...and I will give you a whipped cream massage?

A whipped cream massage eh? Okay and you gonna lick me clean?

No, that is incentive 2 :)

What are mine?

I will refer you to my thread post under "Tongue Tricks" see it and that will be your incentive, we can combine them and have lotsa incentive I think.

Damn, and all I can do with my tongue is strategically play with my tongue ring while making eye contact with hot men.

Well it usually works. Cuz then they wanna know if I can USE it. And I can.

I got tricks..........those sheets seems to be on the bed when it begins and under the lower back when I finish.....and about that tongue ring......OH YEA. If you know what you are doing BRING IT ON.

I am to bed for now and will have to continue this another time.......ok?

I most definitely know how to use it.

G'Night Chuckus, have nice wet dreams ;)

Nite Angel and nice wet dreams to you too..........whatever you do don't think about my tongue trick......hehehehe ;P

My aunt died as a result of smoking; heart and lung disease, though not cancer. It is hard to survive pneumonia if you have emphysema.

When I was in college, periodically there would be reps on campus, giving away cigarettes to the students. Boxes and boxes of them, about 10 per box.

At that time the companies KNEW of the addictive power of cigarettes, and the health risks, and were doing everything in their power to hook as many people as possible. So while the warning was posted on the box, people took the freebies anyway, lighting their way to bad health.

So -- did anyone point a gun at these people and say "smoke?" No, not really. However, I think of their marketing tactics as criminal behavior anyway. I don't believe in a kinder, gentler Philip Morris, or a snack food RJ Reynolds. I think they should be fined out of existence. And that is my two cents.

I lost my Grandfather when I was 16. He died of lung cancer and lets just say that I was not a happy camper.

They didn't discover the link between cigarettes and cancer 'till the 50's. He'd already been smoking for almost 15 years. They didn't start putting the warning labels on, and doing the anti-smoking stuff until 1971. Some older people didn't have the warnings... they saw black and white movies where their favorite actors smoked and the cowboy hero was always rolling a cig.

Some people just did not know that it was bad until it was way too late.
