First : you spend a lot of time writing stories( many from real
experieces that you have had or know about personally) Then you
post it on Literotica. You never get as much as a fuck you from
anyone. Your story isn't published. You don't get any thing telling
you why not. No email. Nothing. Then you read a story later and
see your story theme used in anothers story.
I have seen stories that were badly written. badly mispelled,
the whole nine yards and yet it is published. OR THIS you send a
story to the so called helpers and never hear squat from them.
KNOW WHAT I personally thing is that LITEROTICA has a group of
PET writers and they are the only ones who get published.

Let me know if you have had similar happenings

Sorry to hear about your experience, nyminus, but I have never had that happen to me here. Could it be possible that your story is still pending?

I am not trying to discount your experience, but many themes are used repeatedly - its why they are called "cliches".

About the helpers/editors - sometimes it is easier to approach someone here, instead of the list, to see if they would be willing to help you out.

Keep writing - and resubmit!

Thanks doll for your encouragement

I realize as I said that there are only so many ways that you can
do "it" Still I do wonder at times. Is that your real picture???WOW

gotta agree with kristydoll on this one

i have had nothing but good experiences here. i occasionally get constructive criticism, but mainly, it's people thanking you for sharing your stories.
please, keep submitting! it's a rewarding experience...:cattail:

No complaints here either

I've been visiting here since two months, have always seen my stories being published within reasonable periods of time (3-4 days maximum) and have invariably met with helpfulness when it came to commenting, proof-reading etcetera.

I don't know if your requests come with the same amount of energy as your post did here, but my experience is --since for the vast majority here this is hobby and work-for-free-- that it helps a lot to be friendly, respectful and polite.

Other than that I am sorry you ran into bad experiences. Try not to let it stop you.

delays lately have been a wek- the editors doing Holiday stories first, i suppose, but I always get response rejcting , or its posted.

email or pm Lauren- she actually answers!

Niminus,

Go to your author's page and click "submissions", then "view". Any stories you have submitted will be listed there. At the far right of each is a status box. The wording in this box will tell you where your stories are relative to being posted. You will not get any other notification of your status.

My shortest time between submission and posting was 2 days, the longest, 8. There seems to be no correlation between submission time or day. Unless the status is "rejected", you'll get on the new submissions page shortly.

half and half

I have been pending for 6 days now, kinda nerve-wracking.

I had some problems submitting--is there a character limit on the 'paste text here' box? This one I think is very very good, hoping to see it out for public consumpsion soon.

No one EVER gives feedback (unless you ask for it here)

Themes repeat, and a really crappy story may inspire a good story from another author (still brewing in my head, BTW).

gl in the future.

Patience (is fucking impossible!)

I hate when I'm waiting for a story to post. Every morning, checking? Ahh, damn it!! Not yet!!! :p

There is quite a delay right now but things should speed up soon.

nyminus - so sorry to hear of your bad experience. That has not happened to me or anyone I know on Lit. Do take sirhugs advice and check Submissions or email Laurel. You'll get the answers you need and hopefully your story will post soon!

stuffed shirt,
I wonder if it takes longer to get posted if you cut & paste to that box in the submission page than if you just attach it as an MSWord file. My stories usually take about 4 days to post.

nimynus,
I don't know how many stories are submitted a day, but it's a lot, and these all are checked before being posted. That's a lot of reading.

Most of my stories generate maybe 2 or 3 pieces of feedback, some generate none.

If you want to bypass the wait and get the most feedback, clip and paste a part of your story here to the feedback board and ask for people's opinion. You'll get it.

"Just because you're not paranoid doesn't mean someone isn't out to get you"

And I am FAR to paranoid to allow the personal info buried in MSWord files to be associated with this subversive site! I try to take at least the minimal anonomizer steps in posting here.

Prior to this story (3X), I was in the 3-4 day range also.

Nyminus - Recently I just started posting stories and can say that have waited for them to be published. But, they gave me reasons and I tried to satisfy their needs. Since the postings though, received plenty of feedback from readers and writers.

Gauche was kind enough to give me some constructive feedback and even did a rewrite for me.

One of my questions would be if I should post Gauche rewrite, with his permission and have people compare them. That would be up to Gauche.

Maybe you should resend it...just got lost in cyber...it can happen.

Merry Christmas to all.

re-rewriting

It's fine by me nic, as long as you point out that it's an edit re-write and not a colaboration or co-written.

And, by the way, for any one offering to do the same for any other writer, think very carefully before you do. As I mentioned in another thread, re-writing someone else's work is really difficult.

Trying not to impose your own style (even down to sentence construction) makes re-writing as hard , maybe harder, than writing your own stuff.

Any way you have my blessing Nicole just don't ask me to do it again.:(

For I am, as everyone knows

Nyminus

Nyminus,

I'm very new to the Literotica community and have had only good
experiences so far. I've only submitted two stories, one has been published & one is still pending. I would love to read a sample of one of your stories and give you some feedback. :)

I've submitted 3 stories....2 of them were posted within 4 days, the third is still pending. As far as feedback goes, I get a few every day in my email. Its kind of nice...wish more ppl would do it. That's what the link is there for. Guess most of them are too busy doing something else after reading some of the stories Lit. has to offer ;)

Delays

Dear All,

Hope you don't mind my chiming in here, but I've been through the submission process several times.

I believe the longest it ever took to post one of my little stories was about a week. After I had posted several of them, the lag time got shorter. I guess Laurel recognizes the writer.

I think the wait is kind of fun. Suspense. I once wrote a really weird story, and it was rejected. After I had posted a few stories that were well received, I resubmitted the weirdo and it was accepted.

Reader feedback is always fun. I've never understood, though, why a perfect stranger would think I'd appreciate an out of focus picture of his genitalia.

If you want reader comments, just put a statement to that effect at the end of your story. It works for me.

Happy New Year

Diane
