Has anyone noticed? Food for thought pt 2

I'll keep this short.

has anyone noticed that when Pilot is not on these boards how much quieter they are? How much less fighting there is? How much more informative the threads are because no one is attacking anyone?

Think about it. Those who post here all the time I know you can see it. I know many will read this and agree with me if only just by nodding, because it seems many, even the ones that roll their eyes every time Pilot posts never want to say anything to him because he'll just harass you off the thread.

Not looking for replies on this, just wanting to put the thought in people's head. Lit is a better place this week and only one person is missing.

sure JB throws out his little snipes, but most people here know he's blowing smoke and he leaves it alone after a post or two, but not Pilot, oh, no it will go on until everyone leaves the thread.

It's a shame because it seems people are even piping up more on the advice threads because they don;t have to fear that the living breathing expert on everything is going to start sniping at them.

Too bad it can't always be this way.

The biggest fight I saw on the forums recently (Aside from the GB) was you going off on some guy named Sean Renard or something. That wasn't pilot or JAMESBJOHNSON, that was you.

I would actually invite all three to have a beer. JBJ, Pilot, and LC, because frankly I think they all represent three different sorts of both brilliance and tenacity towards one another. I like contrasts, and they all (compliment?) each other very well. You can guarantee that when you ask a question or post an idea, you're at least going to get three different opinions on the topic, from each of these three.

Relevance of posting content has been brought to question in the past, whereas something needs to be "writerly" or "erotic" to be brought up here, or it ain't relevant. Such has been said by the very OP, and I have to wonder with this thread... has there been so little butting of heads lately at the AH that our most colorful personalities are getting bored? So bored that we stir the pot?

Everyone's had their disagreements here. Arguments, clashes, debates, whatever you call them....

I've just never been one to take it personal. Recently JBJ and I had a bit of a slap fight, and pilot is never one to disappoint when you're in need of a disagreement, but honestly I've never lost respect for anyone on the thread for any reason. Disagreements are just differences of opinion, they can change or not, but I tend to view us as all great minds in our own respect.

Surely, we can all be adults about any topic of conversation, and at the end of the day, no matter how heated we may get, we can still hold a level of respect for one another.

I think maybe pilot is the yin to your yang, LC, or however that may be spelled. While you find it nice not to have his annoyance here at the AH, he's obviously struck enough of a chord for you to have posted anything about him, rather than just ignore his absence.

No insults or smart assery meant. Just a moment for us to step back and look at ourselves.
