Well after more than 6 months of the worst kinds of tests imagineable - tests I wouldn't send my worst enemy on - they have finally found that they misdiagnosed me and what I have is Gall Stones. So now they are saying I have to have emergency surgery to remove my Gall Bladder. They are going to try and do it by using a laproscope - has anyone had this done and how did it go? I understand that if they have problems they will go to the standard method and cut you open - has anyone had this happen to them? I would appreciate any feedback I can get as this is gonna happen to me any day now - just waiting for a surgery date.
The only down side is I'll be away from you guys - now what am I gonna do for my morning laugh?

yep. Had it done last October. It is a very simple procedure and the recovery time is about 3-4 days. I had it done on Thurs. morning and by Monday was back at work. No problem! Of course, the Percocets helped. hehe

You can barely see the scar on my right side and can't even see the one he made in my navel.

You'll do fine, hon.

No but my bladder.....

has some kind of gall - let me tell ya.

Do you have Prince Willima in a can?

Yep been there done that. I was the tender age of 17, and they said to me after the operation that I had the worse ever case they had seen to that point, so much so that half my lung/kidney (where are they in your body anyway LOL) was green too. I left it for 4 months before My mum walked in on me on the floor passed out from the pain (Pain and I are friends).

I know the pain your in and believe me when I say you'll be glad to be rid of it. I had full surgery because, the laproscope procedure wasn't out then. I have a scar 7 inches long and 2 inches thick on my right side, but I don't care cause the pain is gone for good, and you can always cover it up ... right?

Don't try do too much after the surgery, you will feel that you can but, just take it slow and steady, the pain hits you when you least expect it.

Heres to hoping that you can actually have the laproscope procedure, cause I hear the recovery rate is a lot quicker, 3-4 days in some people, longer in others.

Watch your diet afterwards and drink lots of water, time will heal, as with most things.

Good luck and please let us know how you go. Just remember the small amount of pain you go through for the operation is nothing compared to a lifetime of constant pain leaving it in.

Thank you TN Vixen and Nicole - it's sometimes easier to hear it from someone you're familiar with than a surgeon you've just met in emergency. At least I know that either way it will not be that bad.

My sister had it done over christmas break. They said she would have to spend the night...before she went in. She came home 2 hours after she got out of surgery. She couldnt drive for a few days. She had 3 small holes in her stomach, they did that laproscopic thing. She had surgery on thursday and went to work on monday. Not bad at all.

Youll be fine hon, I swear. I know your scared shitless of hospitals, who isnt? But I just know youll do great. :)

JC - have I told you lately what a good friend you are - thanks hon - love you.

My brother in law had the full surgery because the laproscopy wasn't available. He had a longer recovery time, but he is doing great now & hasn't had any problems. He would be the first to say that the surgery was worth it. He is a nurse & says that the laproscopy is a much easier procedure with a much faster recovery so if you can have it done that way, go for it. Good luck & take care of yourself.

Gallstones

Just make sure they tell u evrything about it-- 95% of lap type operations go ok but.... In my case I already had a couple of stones making their way down bile duct. They blocked it and I had to go thru 3 more procedures before evrything was finally ok.
However I had been on waiting list for 4 years(they missed my name somehow) and the surgeon said that was my main problem. He also said before op that depending on what he saw thru laprascope he may end up doing full procedure.
The last problem was over year ago and I have fine since.
Best of luck and I am sure u will be fine.

I didn't have gall stones butt...

I have had laprscope - a small scope that can look at your organ or parts of the body with out opening you up with a large scare....

I had lazer surgery as well to lazer off my endometriosis .. that is in patient out patient kind of thing

Mostly you will probably have to stay the night so they can watch over you
