Has anyone else heard of this new kind of bloodplay?

I had the most amazing experience.
Yesterday, I met this very attractive woman. To make a short story short, I ended up strapped down in this huge chair while she stuck a needle in my arm and removed about a pint of blood.

It lasted for 30 minutes, hurt like hell, and was completely free!

Yes, I know. I know. This was a lame and stupid post. I’m certain it will be deleted soon enough. However, I really do encourage anyone who can to give blood. Donation centers are easy to find and right now national blood levels are very low.

100% of all blood donated goes to someone who needs it. Whose life will probably be saved because of your donation.

I just wanted to encourage you. Thank you for you time.

But very kind hearted.

I'm a blood donor myself, and have donated 25+ times so far. But right now I can't do it. You see they don't want me to donate blood for a year after you've gotten tattooed or pierced.

Same policy as New Zealand.
Thanks for the reminder Never. :)

i do so love that about you.

Ebonyfire, I don’t know how kind hearted I really am. I enjoy helping others but as friends go, I suck big time.

Rubyfruit, I live to serve and I serve to live.

Marquis, I like the Red Cross but I think some of their rules are arbitrary. If you’re a man and have slept with another man, you can’t give blood, period. That’s just insulting. In addition, I seriously don’t understand why someone who lived in England for three months when they were eight can’t give blood as a twenty one year old. I understand that some groups are at a higher risk than others but turning away a potential donor simply because they might have a disease is foolish. Most people who give blood are willing to do so on a regular basis, turning away one person could be turning away a hundred pints of blood.

ShyGuy, Yeah, that’s always unfortunate. At our college, we have quite a few students turned down because just were pierced. Again, they test the blood anyway so I don’t know why they have these regulations. Is someone who had a piercing two months ago really that more likely to be infected than someone who had unprotected sex two days ago?

Debbiexxx, heya sweets. :)

Yes, Blue, I’m crazy, but I’m relatively harmless and that’s all that matter. Thank you for donating! :)

Not a Kiwanian LOL....

I am president of a community service/civic club in my community. One of our biggest events are the blood drives we sponser. Being a former nurse too, I can't impress enough what a gift it is to donate.

If you can, when you can, you should do so.

Really?
It's one of my most common phrases in real life.

i haven't given blood in a while i should again really ... i probably cant for a while though as im still taking anti malaria tablets from holiday

I can't give blood, as I've done tattoos & brands.

I actually think it's a real shame that plenty of lifestylers aren't allowed to contribute blood, because of the skin alterations we've done. I understand the cause for concern, but it seems to me that a blood test would ameliorate the fear of HIV without eliminating anyone into body modification from the donor pool.

Does anyone else think there's a little fear of the scary-looking tattooed people operating in this? Just like the fear of Africa suggested by eliminating anyone who's lived there? (See Marquis' post) In any case, it's a shame that I can't give anymore. I used to, twice a month.

Just wondering... is this true if you have ANY tattoo... no matter how long ago you got it? The not being allowed to give blood part, I mean. I've had a tattoo for about 5 years now... but I've always assumed that I could give blood if I wanted to.

I can understand them not allowing blood if you've gotten a tattoo in say the past 6 months or year.... but you'd think any risk of infection would be gone after a year... not to mention... they do tests on the blood first...

Edit: Not that I have a rare blood type or anything... but I figure any little bit helps. :)

They usually give me dirty looks and point toward the door when I show up.

I'm not a good donor despite my deliciously rarish blood type. I've got too many drugs in the system, not to mention they aren't interested in my impression of the funky chicken.

:( I wanted to, dammit.

Ahhh thanks Never. I thought that was odd that they'd totally cut you out for your entire life... :)

But I want more tats...

At my local Red Cross facility, it's a year. I don't know why that is. Location, maybe? (I live in a beach community near the Mexican border)

In any case, I'm still months from eligible again.

And if you got your tattoo in another country, you can be disqualified for life. Though you won't necessarily be. I don't know what makes the difference, but I've got two friends with out of country tats and one can donate, but the other can't.

Because of a rare skin condition and the medication I have to take for it will be at least four years before I can donate blood again.

In the past, I have donated often. I use to volunteer for the ARC.
:(

Is it the ink in tattoos? Or the fact that your skin has been pierced by a foreign object?

Aye! If it is medically possible, I encourage everyone to give blood - especially around the holidays when supplies tend to run short.
