Harvey

He's busy kicking the crap out of Corpus Christi...

Check-in time:

Harvey the Rabbit -- right here.
Harvey Fierstein -- over there.
Harvey Stone -- dead and buried, alas.
Harvey Comics -- ghosts and rich kids.
Harvey Toy Co -- not the best stuff.
Fred Harvey -- we've bought trinkets.
Hurricane Harvey -- at your doorstep.
Headless Harvey -- my late pet hamster.
Marvin Gardens -- wrong consonants.
Harley Quinn -- same problem.
Har-Vee -- ancient rival of Kor-El.

I've probably missed a few. The rest of y'all, check in now, or else.

Harvey check in.

We're in Austin, Tx. We've been through these hurricanes before. One would think as inland as we are here, we'd be safe.

No...people here die.

We've done all we can to secure our properties. I'm most concerned about a massive ornamental Bradford Pear tree on the "wind" side of this coming storm.

These trees are so pretty but have a short life-span and start to crack and split at the major branch sections.

If this tree comes down (or any of the major branches), it will take out our sun-room.

I am worried because the massive wind force is blowing that tree right into the direction of the sun room.

The sun room is where our kitty lives. We'll bring her inside the home to cuddle and sleep with us. She's gonna be scared.

Our situation here is nothing like what other's in this this state will be suffering. I will do all I can to help them.

so sad.

If you want the "blow by blow" (no pun intended) from Austin, Tx.....

We had a bit of a downpour a few hours ago. Then it stopped...everything went quiet. Is this the "calm before the storm"?

I just stepped out here...the wind is literally HOWLING now. I am sure the rain will be coming before I go to bed.

...will keep you posted on Harvey at least from Austintown.

If you don't hear from me regularly, we've lost our power and are living on flashlights.

I'll keep you posted best I can, tho.

Oh wow, that's scary :( sending good vibes your way - hope things pass smoothly.

Paul Harvey?

Paul Harvey?
Damn, I knew I'd forgotten him! He was on the edge of my thoughts for a moment... and others come to mind with effort: Harvey Firestone (rubber), Harvey Mandel (guitarist), Harvey Milk (politico), the Harvey (comics) Awards, Harvey Kurtzman (cartoonist), Harvey Pekar (comics writer).

But only one Harvey matters now.

The rabbit, of course.

AAAARGH....the ship....she be a-tossin' bout the sea with no direction, no port in sight....crew is on their knees-o-prayin....

Austin's legendary "Franklin's BBQ" joint is burning....burning to the ground...hell has arrived!

OK...we're fine so far, dolls. :) But it ain't over yet!

Thanks you all for your thoughts. I know that International FunBoy is here-abouts as well. I'm hoping he's floating ass-up as well.

I'm-a-waitin with ropes in hand...a-waitin for a ride on the great Moby Dick....

glug glug glug....

They're reporting this is a Cat 4 now.

Looks like it's going to camp ou for awhile. Stay safe.

Thanks jomar! It's actually not so bad...I get pumped up with these events. I'm telling ya....this is NOTHING compared to the TYPHOONS we had during our 5 years on that rock called Taiwan.

As kids, we'd go outside....had to keep your eyes closed. We'd spread our arms out, facing the wind....and fall forward.

The gales were so strong, they'd hold us up....with legs straight and our faces 3 feet over the ground.

The rain hit us so hard in the face, it stung and hurt...but damn...what a thrill that was!

...until our Mom looked out the window and saw what we were doing.

We had about 300 windows in our house...no, it was no mansion by any means...most were just little panes. It took about 2 days to tape crosses on them all before the Typhoon hit.

Wow...great memories!

My kingdom for a kite and a skateboard right now. :D

I'm thinking Vetteman's middle son Harvey is glad to have his name get a bit of attention. He always felt his Daddy favored his older brother Lee and his younger brother Oswald.

I heard that the fire was contained to the smokehouse.

Oh, thank God!

It's really getting scary out here, Thor. I've NEVER seen winds like this in Austin and I've lived here since 1976.

Also, husband took off to check a couple of our nearby properties but I have seen winds that I swear could likely blow the car right off the road.

*paces floor*

:(
