Harrison Ford augers in at the golf course

2:21 pm on a golf course in Southern California on a sunny day.

How many doctors were on the course at the time of this accident?

My Dad always said any landing you can walk away from is a good landing:

"Variety says Ford is in "critical condition," but walked away from the crash."

Well, I disagree.

Come out to the Fed Ex Hangar in May for the Aero Show and the 80 year olds will kick your ass.

I agree with Thor. A man I know well flew around the world in a Cessna 210, solo, at 84. Fantastic pilot.

At least two. They ran over to the wreck to care for him. I think the only place he may have gotten more medical assistance was if he crashed in a hospital parking lot.

You know, I don't want to start a rant here, nobody gives a fuck about what I think anyway but, this is a perfect example of how I think our society is way off balance. How many young service men and women go through similar or worse every day and almost nothing is said or printed about it. This will be news for a long time because of his movie star status.
It just bugs me no end how we are so fascinated by celebrity.

I agree

When That idiot Clooney was married for five straight days one of the features on the yahoo home page was a picture of his wife's damn dress. That was nothing compared to how many pics of Jolie we saw when her and Brad finally got married(to stay relevant in the TMZ race)

Meanwhile most of the celebrity obsessed crowd can't name their states senators.

So Right!!! Cant name their senators, city council men, or anyone in between. But, first to complain about how "shit aint right" I do believe it will never change.

You raise a fair point but this is Han-Fuckin'-Solo we are talking about here. If some other actor not know for playing a swash-buckling, devil-may-care pilot it would probably get the same kind of coverage, but it wouldn't be as cool.

They should name the airport he took off from Mos Eisley.

My son used to work at a small airport while going to college and met him several times along with his wife. They would fly in their own plane. He told me that he was really a decent and friendly guy to be around.

That wouldn't surprise me a bit. Even if others had different experiences away from the airport. I was in and out of little dirt strip airports and the general aviation side of larger ones as a kid. Pilots, mechanics and staff are kind of like a fraternity. Like how one Harley owner will stop for another. Other than keeping a casual eye on me that I didn't hurt myself, no one ever had anything but smiles for me in those places.

That was how it was for my son. He eventually got his pilots license and the other pilots chipped in to pay for the final exam. Really a supportive bunch.

That reminds me of this one time we landed someplace on the way to get scheduled service on the Commanche. I was too young to understand what the issue was, but for some reason Dad could not pay for fuel or did not have a corp account for it or something. Another pilot paid for the fuel and wrote down his address for Dad to mail a check to.

By all accounts the guy was a good pilot. The fact that he knew where to put down speaks volumes.

As they say, if you can walk away from a landing, it's a good landing. If you use the airplane the next day, it's an outstanding landing. So I guess this was a good landing.

My dad knew a pilot that parked one in the trees on take-off from the North rim of the Grand Canyon. His comment was, that was an great landing. That airport is notorious. It has a very short strip and is located at very high altitude. I was there by car and saw an old Ford Tri-motor with the corrugated siding exterior abandoned there. Years later with my dad, my brother working on a pilot's license and an IP, we happened to land there. The Ford was gone. I wonder if someone flew it out or if they parted it?

Sounds like he's in critical condition.:(

Update: Ford is now in stable condition according to People. The LAFD tweeted that Ford is suffering "fair to moderate injury."

Ford's son Ben tweeted the following update on his father:

At the hospital. Dad is ok. Battered, but ok! He is every bit the man you would think he is. He is an incredibly strong man.
