Emilly Harper sat in a lounge in the garden a soft blanket over her legs protecting her from the morning chill as the sun beat down on her warming her face. She had opted to leave her hair down this morning instead of pulling up into her typical tight braid.Her long golden locks fells in soft curls and waves down her back and over her shoulders.

For the first time in several days she felt at peace and relaxed.Two days ago her father Armonde had informed her and her mother Angela that there would be a group of their friends that would be coming to stay for two weeks a small get togethor out of the city before the new season was to begin.

Emilly and her mother had argued with him for hours to no end. he was determind to have his way, stating " i am tired of my daughter hiding in this manor like a recluse damit!! it's time she met a nice fellow and married." with that said he looked to his daughter and Emily shuddered knowing that he meant what he said. " i love you gal and it's time you realised there is life outside of this place."

Emilly knew better than to argue with him when he had his head st to something and opted to not say anything at all. turning to his wife " i suggest you two start working to prepare.. they should be arriving before the end of this week." Gasping Angela looked at her husband as if he had two heads. " you've lost your mind.. that's not nearly enough time. how many people did you invite Armonde?!"

shrugging he looked at his wife." only 30 or 40. not so many. and i did not want to give you enough time to call it off before they arrived. i would say all things concidered i told you at just the right time." laughing he stood and had left the room. For the last three days Emilly had done what she could to help her mother prepare and plan for everyone. They had succeeded and now she was able to sit and enjoy the day in silence.

when she heard the crunching of wheels on rock she knew her peace had come to an end. when her parents came out of the door to the garden and approached her she sighed " it's time then huh?"
feeling like the main attraction in a side show she wraped her arms around her father's neck as he lifted her up and placed her in her chair.

they came to a stop infront of the doors and watched as several people Lady's bedecked in their finest country garb and the gentlmen just as impressive began to step from the coach. soon their was another coach and another. so many people and greetings and almost all of them looking at her with pitty in their eyes. she could hear them whispering as they moved into the house after greeting the family. she was just about to ask to be taken to her rooms when a very tall gallant looking man steped from the coach a wide smile on his chisled face.

It was as if god himself had krept into her dreams and pulled this man into the world. she could feel her heart beating wildly in her chests as he approached them. Greeting her parents first shaking hands with her father and kissing her mothers hand before his turned his attention down to her.

" you must be Emilly, i have heard so much about you.. nothing could have prepared me for your loveliness however. i am please to finally get to meet you in person." bending he took her hand and placed a warm kiss on her knuckle. speachless at first still lost in the sound of his warm voice she barely heard him until she felt his warm lips pressed to her flesh.

looking into his eyes she licked her dy lips. " thank you sir." unsure what else to say she could not find it in her to look away from him as she had the others. her father placed his hand on her shoulder as he smiled and looked down at her. " Emilly dear this is Markus or as you may remember me telling you the new Lord Draven."

emily smiled and looked up at the man again. lord but he was handsome. she nearly forgot to breath as he made his fairwell until later. her parents escorted her back to the garden and into the house. her fathers strong arms held her tightly against him as he carried her up the stairs to her rooms, so that she could change and prepare for lunch. when she was alone she rolled her chair over to the window and looked out.

several of the guests where outside in the garden Lord Draven was amoung them. She could not look away as she watched him flirting with Libby clarckson. sighing she closed her eyes as she turned from the window. " foolish girl, of course he would find Libby attractive all the young me did. she knew that from the few times she had attended parties with her parents. Libby was always the bell of the ball.

once again she damned the chair she sat in to hell and her useless legs with it. if only she had not fallen down the marble stairs when she was a little girl, she would be out right now with the other people her age enjoying the sun and having fun. instead she sat inside alone as was usual when there where other people around.

no one wanted to be reminded that there where real tragidies in the world besides who was seeing how and who had gotten what silk dress from what shop. when ever she entered a room one of things would happen the group would ignore she was there or they would look at her with pity in their eyes. oh how she hated their pity. and she hated this idea of her fathers even more.

bump** surely there is someone out there that finds this thread of even the slightest interest.

I will play Lord Draven if it isn't taken up by the morning, I am getting to tired to post right now tho.

Paul Meadows

[Amended-thanks for the suggestions].
---
Hi, I'd like to join if this is okay?
Name= Paul Meadows
Age= 31
Height = 6'2
Build = chunky and very fit
Hair = long and sandy blonde, usually kept in a pony tail
Eyes = soft and hazel
Traits: Paul is gentle and also very friendly, but this friendliness hides an inner shyness. He is pretty sexually experienced, having has quite a number of lovers, but none of these dalliances have lasted more than a couple of months.
Occupation: Brought up into a wealthy family, Paul is learning to become a doctor (in particular as a very early version of a physiotherapist) under his Uncle, noted physician Dr. William Fortescue-Jones.

-----
Introduction (hope that this is okay?):

Paul smiled as another party invitation came into his possession.
Having built up a network of contacts with prominent local families due to his family connections, Paul usually found himself on the guest list for many local functions. However, he found that Harper's Grove was one of his favourite large houses to go to.

Thinking back, he recalled not only the fine state of the house, but he also winced slightly when he recalled the squabbles between Angela and Armonde Harper (which were a talking-point in society) and he resolved to try to avoid getting embroiled in this if he possibly could.

Putting on what he called his 'Sunday finery' (an expensive suit, shirt and and shoes which were really his only consideration to current fashion), Paul saddled his dapple grey horse, Bess, and soon made good time towards ther Harper's estate. However, as usual, he ensured that he would be 'fashionably late'.

Handing Bess' reins over to a footman for her to be stabled, Paul could see that the party was already in full swing, with a number of local notaries and gentry present.

Included amongst them, of course, was Libby. Paul had forgotten her second name, but he knew that she was regarded as a local beauty, although her slightly snobbish nature did not endear her to him.
As well as this young lady, Paul also saw the dashing figure of the new Lord Draven. Although they had not met before, Paul had heard that he was a gallant and honourable gentlemen and (ever-eager to meet people as well as to potentially gain new employers), Paul hoped that they might talk a little later.

Ever viginlant, Paul knew that a lot of good connections could be made at a function like this, but he also knew that the relationships between some families were a bit strained at the moment, so he did not want to appear either too eager or to be favouring some people more than others.
Therefore, he casually sauntered through the throng, making small-talk with people and not getting too deep into conversation wth any particular family, although making promises that they would talk later.
As he made his way through the assembled guests, Paul cast a few appreciative glances at several memers of the crowd, noticing as he did so that several more were being cast his way.
He recognised most people on sight and knew that several of the ladies who had regarded him were married and that a couple were without their husbands.

During his time, he had been tempted by several married ladies in other areas and he had nearly come close to doing the deed with a wife from this locale too. He had heard about such engagements taking place and was curious about it, but he knew that the need for discretion outweighed lust in such circles.

Making his way towards some of the flower-beds that grew by the main house, Paul thought he saw a fleeting glance of a lovely young woman's face through nearby window.
Casting a mere cursory glance at the plants, Paul's gaze was drawn back to the same window to see if the lady had returned.
Sure enough, the same face appeared; she was very beautiful, yet her face also told a story of unhappiness, as she gazed seemingly wistfully out of the window, as though distanced from the people at the party at her own house.
The lady's face seemed familiar, so he cast his mind back and tried to think of where he had seen her before. He quickly realised that she must be Emily, Angela and Armonde's daughter.
Whilst she had always been an attractive girl, Emily had certainly continued growing up in the same fashion and turned out to be a beautiful young woman indeed.

Paul recalled what he had heard about her childhood acident, but he'd always thought that it was a bit cruel of her parents to keep her cloistered away out of sight for most of her life when she should instead be outdoors enjoying herself.
However, Paul felt a little ashamed of himself in that he had never said anything publicly before, as his livelihood had generally rested upon the goodwill of his patrons.

Hoping to catch Emily's sight, Paul smiled broadly and winningly at her and began to encouragingly beckon her to join the party outside.
When this didn't attract her attention, he collected two wine glasses from a passing butler and asked the servant if he would go inside and invite 'Mistress Emily' out into the garden to join the party.
Seeing a look of apprehension cross the butler's face, Paul gave him a small coin 'for taking the time and trouble to help him' and he watched as the servant entered the building, duly encouraged.

i am so happy to have you with me on this thread Donalddeutsch i am looking forward to your posts.

Andygorn this is a time period thread. i just thought i would let you know. it is set in the early 1800's. and as such most of the wealthy wouldn'r really have much to do with a gardener unless it was someone they employed at the time. you may want to just go with the doctor part. just a suggestion.

thank you both for offering to join this thread.

I'll play Libby but I'll have to start tomorrow as well.A few more posts on the board for the night and then I'm going to go.

Scine there is alot of OOC going on in this thread. Lets just say that this is the ooc. I will creat a new thread that is an IC thread once we get this all settled. I am hoping that those of you that signed on will post your char. bio's here soon.
