Happy Thanksgiving

Thanks, WD, and to you and yours as well.

To all my friends, acquaintances - and whatevers ;) - here, whether you celebrate Thanksgiving on the U.S. date, or the Canadian, or not at all:

I hope you have a wonderful day tomorrow (Thursday), and better days to come. I am thankful for the friends I've made here, and for all the people whose viewpoints on a myriad of subjects I've been privileged to view, and with whom I've been privileged to share my $0.02 (U$ ;)) worth. This is without a doubt, despite occasional spats and blowups and snarky behavior (yes, I do that on occasion, too ;) ), quite possibly the most welcoming and sharing group with whom I've ever had the pleasure of consorting.

Happy thanksgiving to everyone.

Thanks for the triple header tonight :)

I also wanted to ask people, is it the Holiday today, or do the Holidays start today and carry on over the weekend. I am guessing everyone has today off work.
I only ask because I visit the US this weekend and want to know if things will be shut over the weekend because of the holiday season, or will I have just missed all of the thanksgiving festivities. Thanks all and happy holidays :)

'Most' may have the holiday off from work, the official day of celebration being Thursday, the 27th.
The 26th is the so called official first day of the mad rush to begin the holiday shopping frenzy. Retail will be open with most that was 'shut down' for the Thursday, open and running again full swing by Friday morning (some crazed shoppers actually camp out at mall entrances and spend the night standing in line to snatch up the best bargains) or sooner.
If shopping is on your plate, Black Friday may offer an interesting extension of this holiday for some, and in a hectic atmosphere by most examples.

As far as family/private celebrations, in our home here, that never ends. One holiday overlaps the next. When long pauses kick in and fall between, we just celebrate 'each other', even harder. This weekend will bring evidence of that, just like any other day of the year--and with a ton of left over turkey and pie.
Happy thanksgiving to everyone.

Well, some of us do work on holidays, I'm sorry to say. Fast food workers, police, security, behind the scenes post office people, as well as UPS, FedX, and places like that. Even some grocery stores will be open on Thursday for limited hours. And many 24 hour resturants, gas stations, etc. are going to be open, to get the holiday travelers. But, because nobody else is working, some of these jobs are almost like not working.

Except for the above, most places are closed on Thursday. There are some companies that will also be closed on Friday, giving their employees a four day weekend. Those are mmostly office type jobs, not retail. So, Friday is considered a travel day by many.

I'm driving out of town for eats and I'm sure I'll have company. The hiways will be full of travelers, as will airports and bus stations. Quite a few people will be going from point A to point B to visit relatives for turkey dinner. If we all can keep from running into each other, the day will be a good one.

As for the U.S. closing down, Thanksgiving is a bank and government holiday. They all will be closed. Some bank locations might be closed on Friday, but not all branches. Some government offices might be closed on Friday, too, but I'm not sure on that.

If you plan on shopping, Friday is your best bet. That's the day many large department stores open at midnight, giving the early Christmas shoppers first access to sales and such. Although they might be closed on Thursday, most merchants will be open for business on Friday. It's the first official shopping day of the Christmas season. They want your money.

Happy Thanksgiving, everybody. And let me be the first to wish you all a Merry Christmas, too. It's less than a month away, now.

DAMN! I knew I took too long typing that message. You trumped me!

Yeah. You type slow. You getting old? :p
It's better to be trumped than hum--
Never mind.
Almost forgot who I am talking to here. Eh eh eh...

Seriously, I wish a happy holiday for you DVS. Safe travels and hope nothing but joy to greet your arrival(minus any family shitty drama -slash- annoyance stuff), this turkey day.

We are spending thanksgivng in PA this year. I'm sitting right now in front of the sliding glass door facing the porch since its the only place I'm getting our neighbors wireless, and, no shit, three wild turkeys just walked by.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Too bad you didn't have your trusty 12-gauge handy. Could have had a free dinner! :p

What are you thankful for?

I would love to say that I'm thankful for my health, and the that of my family, but, well, we've all spent the better part of two weeks being sick, and I'm bloody tired of it. I am thankful that it isn't worse, so that's something.

I would love to say that I am thankful to be gainfully employed in these dark economic times, but, well, my job is not exactly what I would call good. Still, it's something, and that is better than the dire straits many families will face this thanksgiving. So that's something too.

I am deeply thankful for my gals. Thankful that viv and I manged to work through our rough patch. And thankful that MIS has entered our lives so well.

The thing I'm most thankful for right this second? Eldest daughter's idea. When she found out MIS was visiting shortly before thanksgiving, she was overjoyed. When she heard that she would have to leave the day before to go back to have thanksgiving with her family, she was less than overjoyed. Then she had the bright idea to ask if we could have a mini-thanksgiving with MIS while she was still here, and so we did, and it was wonderful.

Smart as hell and creative, that is eldest daughter.

For a change I am looking forward to the holiday.

We have fewer family obligations on us than usual.

Tonight I am having a date with my husband in a hotel.

:D

As always, I'm thankful for my husband and kids. They are the best, most miraculous, beings in my life.

:rose:

thankful for my health, its been a rough year tp get through with unplanned surgeries here, and diagnosis there, not mention a small relapse over the summer that had some nasty potential

thankful for the fact that school is almost over

thankful for the four little ones i am so happy to have in my life

thankful for the sister in service that i love so much, even if she is sick and mopey, and especially when she wears her glasses which make her look dead sexy despite the fact that she disagrees

and most thankful for Master. it has been one hell of a year and being owned by you has been the thing that has gotten me through most of it.

ETA: i am NOT thankful for the holiday of thanksgiving itself. it means i have to deal with my family, which is a very very bad thing for me. i can take my mothers side or my fathers side at once and be ok with it, or even happy with it, but put them all in the same room at the same table and we have problems.

I know! I wish I could convince her that the glasses look hot.

Remember kids, Master or not, some things are just beyond your reach.

Hmm, perhaps the secret to a mellow thanksgiving is to have half the people at the table be sick or getting over being sick. Such a quiet meal, aside from the occassional round of coughing.

Happy thanksgiving!

A cute boy, some kinky play, and a cat on my chest, Tikka Masala marinating in the fridge. Life is good. I am grateful.

I'm extremely late but I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving. My parents abandoned me for the holidays so I was a bit sad because Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday and my mom is the best cook... EVA!

Luckily, I got adopted by a lovely couple I met last week and they invited me over for Thanksgiving dinner. I had such a great time and the wife and I got a long so well like 2 long lost buddies.

I have to say, I am so completely blessed and thankful for the wonderful life I have.

I don't really follow American holidays, but I like this one. I was in the US for thanksgiving one year, and I have to admit there was a vibe happening that I really felt and appreciated. Happy thanksgiving :D
