In Latvia it is an official holiday and a day off. People head to countryside and celebrate the night 23-24 June, staying awake, rather having a barbeque than following any traditional rites, though there are such.. like, couples of young girls and boys go to forest in the night to search for a fern flower = happyness. That's an elegant excuse, of course

The Baltic regions like Latvia and Lithuania were some of the last European regions to be Christianized. Forcibly by Teutonic knights. Not surprised they still retain old pagan holy days. Those not Christianized like Yule, Hallow'een and Eostre.
