Incredible Neighbor Buys 89-Year-Old's Home Back After She Was Evicted

After living in her Hudson, Florida home for 35 years, Angie Tyma was evicted last month due to an unfortunate misunderstanding. You see, Tyma sold her house several years earlier to someone who became her landlord, but when that person stopped paying the mortgage out of nowhere, it went into foreclosure. "They threw me out," she told TODAY. "I couldn't believe it."

Without anywhere to go, Tyma was forced to live in a Days Inn hotel, until one of her neighbors did something unheard of: Danielle Calder bought the house back for Tyma for $167,500. "Quite honestly, I didn't need another house," Calder says. "But I needed her. I couldn't see her living in a motel room ... she's been here so long. Everyone looks out for her."

With No Money and Two Abandoned Children on Their Doorstep, This Family Discovered the True Meaning of Christmas

Our neighbor John Burns stood with his head down and a worn suitcase in each hand. A young boy with brown eyes and dark hair stood to his right. A fair-haired young girl stood to his left.

'Wait, and I’ll get Ron,' I said.

A few minutes later, I found my husband out back pruning apple trees. 'John Burns is at the door. You better come.'

When we returned, I said, 'John, tell Ron what you told me. I haven’t said a thing to him.'

With head still bowed, the man explained once again, 'I just went through a very bad divorce. I lost my job. And I seriously don’t know what to do.'

He paused and cleared his throat. 'I was wondering if you would take Brian and Amy. I don’t want them to end up in foster care again, and I couldn’t help noticing that your kids seem real happy.'

In the silence that followed, the world seemed to stop and hold its breath. Our neighbor stared at the ground. The children’s big, sad eyes were glued on my husband’s. It was 3 weeks before Christmas 1980. Oregon was suffering yet another recession, and this man wasn’t the only one who’d lost his job. Ron had been laid off just before Thanksgiving.

'Well, I sure don’t see why not,' Ron replied in his easygoing way.

I would imagine the damp conditions under the bridge are the reason your appliances are breaking down.

I fixed it. The inlet was all gunky and spraying water all over. :)

Here's a challenge for you. Post a nice feel good story. Probably goes against your nature but, hey, give it a shit. Bet you can't.

This isn't in the news, but:

My next door neighbor is seen by those that don't know him as kinda on the grumpy curmudgeonly side. But every year, he knocks on my door around Christmas and gives us a gift basket. When it snows, even though he's on the back side of his 80's he will get on his farm tractor and clear our driveway if the hubs doesn't beat him to it.

He mentioned he hopes for a fruit basket from Santa this year. I'm thinking Santa won't let him down.

Blue sky here in San Francisco this morning. Makes me happy.

I went to my consult for the weight loss clinic I am joining. 2 meals a day will be supplements, supper will be a healthy meal. 1 meeting a week, blood pressure and weigh in. This whole thing is through our local hospital. I know I can do this.

Man learned CPR 2 weeks ago, saves Kitchener heart attack victim's life

http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/kitchener-waterloo/kitchener-man-saved-by-cpr-dylan-duncan-1.3899782

Christian Horizons celebrates Dylan, a young man with developmental disabilities who saved a man's life last Tuesday (December 13).

Dylan was waiting at the bus stop in Waterloo on his way to work, when another man at the bus stop had a heart attack.

Dylan called 911 immediately and began to administer CPR and continued to do so for about 30 minutes until police arrived. Dylan said that medical staff and police informed him that if he had not administered CPR, this man would not be alive; he would not be there for his wife and young children.

How did Dylan know to administer CPR? Dylan had a dream to go to culinary college and learn more skills to work in a restaurant. This fall, he started school at Humber College taking the Christian Horizons/Humber College culinary arts program.

One of the courses he has had to take was First Aid/CPR. The education Dylan is receiving has proven to be invaluable - the investment in just one young man's education has saved another man's life.
Dylan, you're our hero!
