Here it is nearly 12 hours into the New Year and I still haven't had an alcoholic beverage - not a New Year Resolution but my daughters are coming for a celebration dinner this evening and I thought I'd wait until then to open the bottle of 1980 Port.

Best wishes to all. I hope that any outstanding problems from 2005 are resolved happily so that you have more time to write THE story that will make you famous (and rich).

Black Tulip's post above reminds me that at midnight I watched fireworks erupt along 40 miles of coastline. An impressive sight in the clear night sky.

LOL I spent the first hour of the New Year watching the cops trying to put out the traditional fire on the corner. From a safe distance, I might add.

My son was blasting with carbide (?), luckily he didn't get busted one way or the other.

I experienced some extremes in 2005 -- highs AND lows.

I'm wondering if the highs would've felt as high without the contrast of the lows.

After seeing nearly 5000 years come and go, it is difficult to be excited about another. This year will be different for me though, my human counterpart has found love again and is determined to start a new life with her this year. It gives me hope and now I find myself determined to end my life of hiding from man. This year I will soar again. I will raise my voice and call out to the world, "I am here and you will remember the magic and you will see the wisdom, I will help you open your eyes." Though it may be my last, I will make my stand and fight for my right to live. Not as a captive in a prison of my own making, but to truly live again.
