HAPPY NEW YEAR! I don't make resolutions. I never have done that. Everybody I know always makes 'em and they never stick to 'em.

I just want to wish everybody a Happy New Year and hope yours is a safe one.

OK, let's all join hands and sing "Auld Lang Syne". :D

I can never remember the words for auld lang syne.
For that matter I can never remember what auld lang syne means, though I've been told.
Happy New Year,all.

I just discovered I know most of them!
Should old acquaintance be forgot and never brought to mind
We'll (on the tip of my tongue) in days of auld lang syne...

The one year I'm home alone, kida sick.
Hhph.

Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
And never brought to mind?
Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
And auld lang syne?

CHORUS:
For auld lang syne, my dear,
For auld lang syne,
We'll tak a cup of kindness yet,
For auld lang syne!

And surely ye'll be your pint-stowp,
And surely I'll be mine,
And we'll tak a cup o kindness yet,
For auld lang syne!

We twa hae run about the braes,
And pou'd the gowans fine,
But we've wander'd monie a weary fit,
Sin auld lang syne.

We twa hae paidl'd in the burn
Frae morning sun till dine,
But seas between us braid hae roar'd
Sin auld lang syne.

And there's a hand my trusty fiere,
And gie's a hand o thine,
And we'll tak a right guid-willie waught,
For auld lang syne

Not for that reason, but i was and am home alone because my son is still out partying and Andante is just too damned far away sometimes.

But think positive Chicklet, if that was the start of the year, it can only get better :)

I hope everyone has a wonderful fun filled 2006 :nana:

Godt nytår for all! I hope the new year will be great for you.

No, I was home because I was sick for most of the past week and a half, but a guy did call me at 9:30 when his $25 per person plans fell through to see if I wanted to do something. Not a booty call or anything, we're just friends, and he knows I don't like the place he was going.

I stayed in anyway, I wanted to stay in my jammies and how much drinking can you do coming off a virus? Now if he was inviting me to hear a Celtic band or something, I would've taken him up on it.

Funny how things change when you get older.

Chicklet is that you in your av? You're a cutie!

Well today is the first day of our new year. My hope is that it brings joy to those who seek it and comfort to those in need.

Now regarding resloutions, I don't usually resolve to change anything being it that I am so undisciplined  but I will say I have plans for this year which may enlighten me regarding resolve.

Happy New Year to one and all!!

I don't know if everyone knows this, but NEVER EVER EVER take Tylenol for a hangover. In fact, don't take it at all if you are drinking. This includes preparations such as Tylenol cold & Sinus, Tylenol cough....anything with acetaminophen.

Here's why:

Your liver is responsible for breaking down alcohol. Your liver is also what breaks down other stuff, including Tylenol. Tylenol and alcohol go to the SAME SITES in the liver, via the same receptors IIRC. If you take both of them at once, they can damage your liver. Over time, this can build up. Then you have a damaged liver all because you didn't take Advil when drinking. Yes I know NSAIDs can cause stomach problems but this is more serious.

That is why alcoholics (well chronic ones) are never ever prescribed Tyenol and there is a warning on the box now.

You should not take them (alcohol and Tylenol) within 24 hours of each other. All you revellers still have alcohol in your body.

I learned this while still in university because my Abnormal Pysch prof did research on rats bred to be alcoholic. I have told many since. I may have messed up the explanation a bit, it was 5 years ago, but I am serious.

No shit.
ETA:I hope this makes sense, I'm a little wired right now on painkillers. I edited it a bit for clarity. Sorry if it's still off.

A band like Gerald Trimble? Or maybe Connie Dover, or Aine Minoque?

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYBODY.

Um. Well, more like the Celtic jam at a pub near here. Nothing organized, or anything.
Celtic music is a lot more fun when you know when to pound on the table and when and what to yell. And when you can drink, too.

But actual CDs? I really like the Clancy brothers, esp. Collection, and Stan Rogers (ok, Nova Scotia Celtic), Irish Drinking songs (Yes, it's the name of a CD) esp. the fields of Athenry (sp?), Great Big Sea (home for a rest is way overplayed, but the night that Paddy Murphy died is a good one), and other bands do bits and pieces here and there that I like, like the Waterboys. Oh, and I like Planxty, though they're Scottish, but I still think Celtic. Also, if you go to an Irish-Canadian pub night, there's a good chance they'll sing Sweet Caroline. I was a bit confused about that, but when I sked why I was informed that Irish people love to sing along to it. Since I was in a club of Irish people singing lustily, I couldn't really disagree.
