We're due for a monster storm / blizzard that vastly complicates our need to move a housecar between repair shops just after we enter 2017. A few feet of snow on our unplowed dirt access road, ay yi yi. As soon as possible afterwards, we'll head for the Mexican border, taking the snowbird route. Blizzards suck. We've been in too many.

Yeah, that was my year too. Great for the career, some lovely things in my personal life, but dreadful in the bigger picture.

I was doing so good today. Woke up ok. Thought maybe this is the year things change. But nope the sadness has set in.

I lost one of my twins on New Years Eve. She died of complications of TTTS, twin to twin transfusion syndrome. She was just 3.
Ever since then, NYE has been difficult for me. This year is the 8th year she's been gone. Now I am beginning to think it never gets easier.

Trying to drown my sorrows in beer but that seems to just make me even sadder.

I am sorry. That sounds terribly hard.

I don't know if this is helpful or wanted advice, but my two cents' worth - it is quite okay to be sad about things like that. Losing somebody close to you is a big thing and worthy of grief; you don't owe it to anybody to "get over it and be happy" on anniversaries. Sometimes it's better to accept sadness as a periodic visitor than to try to lock it out.

I am so sorry....I should have read this before I posted earlier...Things can be so rough and unexplainable...no answers but I think may get closure from a higher source...may each day forward help you heal this terrible thing...
