To all of you who are mothers and to those of you who have them. I hope you all have a wonderful day, filled with good memories and that you are able to make some new, good memories.

I am blessed that I have my youngest girl home during her summer break from school, and my eldest came over and brought me a beautiful plant, a Mandeville ( her name is Amanda, lol and she looks for gifts like that ,with her name or close to it, in them)

My mom passed away December 28, 2001 and of course, I miss her. Sometimes more than others, of course, lol.

whatever your situation, I wish you peace, happiness and beauty on this day of reflection and love

hugs to you all:)

Hugs to you. Julie. My mother was killed in a car accident when I was eighteen but I'm lucky because I love my mother-in-law as my own mother.

Happy Mother's Day.

Thank you, having a good one here. Other than my youngest stole my car keys. So anyone see a little blonde 2 year old driving a grey T&C minivan do give me a call. However my house keys turned up after a month :nana: So it is a gold start day.

Everyone have Happy Mothers day.

I'm sorry for your loss Tess. You know I understand. Glad to hear you have a lovely MIL--as you know, it usually doesn't work out that way. ;)

I'm missing my mom and kids today, but I had a fun chat with my daughter (19- year-old son is off doing god only knows what), and ee bought me a beautiful Mother's Day card (and bath stuff--yum!) and made me dinner. What a sweetheart!

Happy Mother's Day to all you mothers and children! If you want to see a cool mommy-oriented poetry site, check out Literary Mama. You might even see a few familiar faces there. ;)

And someone started a thread for Mother's Day poems, and I remembered I had this one. It's not very sweet, but it's totally true and was verrry funny at the time. (Yeah, yeah you'll all be there in Hell with me lol.)

Mother's Day

Dinner out on Mother's Day.
Dressed up, we slide
into the dark red pleated booth.

It's Ho Wah!

A restaurant of some smallville repute:
the snazzy bar replete with vivid drinks,
luxe paper parachutes abristle
brought to you by

"Tommy"

who slithers among tables,
silent,
haute.
unapproachably cute.

The giant tassled menu
is a book. It hurts my head
to look at choices. I'll eye the room
instead, search for some other poor soul--
familial and duty-bound like me--
to share a glance of stoic sympathy,
suffer pu-pu platters, volcano steaks
brought out aflame,
held high, escorted like a bride.

I want to die!

What must they think of us
that we applaud such silliness?
I feel clueless, out of the loop

O' they'll be pissed when I say
"Really only soup
for me."

But I am saved.

Before my name is Mud,
my musing broken by a thud:
the soft oof of my Grandma
(whom I really love)
but who should not have worn that silk dress
or sucked down that huge tricolored drink,
(her silken dress sliding on leatherette, I think)
I'm snickering, dear god
she's drunk and laying on the rug.

Of course she's fine,
her corsage none the worse for wear,
my father and me quite the pair,
insert her safely by the wall,
but not before the haughty Tommy

gliding by

a steamy pu-pu platter hoisted
high upon the tray

smiles viciously
and stops to say:

"Grandma fall down on Mother's Day!"
