Happy Mothers Day ... 'mothers' <grinin>

Under a tree long ago
the first infant cry
and a mother was born

She makes sure
all her ducklings
are in a row

carries worms
in her mouth
to hungry waitng beaks

she'll nurse a fawn
on an early morning dawn

she sits on an egg
without breaking it
waiting for it to split

they call her ... mother

a new sprout grows
under the shade
of the protective branch
of the deeply rooted
love of a Mother.

an pure cold draft of water on a parched throat...

a warm summer breeze on a clear day...

a shoulder to cry on when it is most needed...

a hero to many in unhistoric ways..........

I reflect on yesterdays
for the mind can only go three ways,
tomorrow, today and yesterday

You remember getting scratches
climbing through the back window
over the door in panama, because I
was to afraid to, I lost fear that day
watching you lay on the couch in cuts

I remember sinking under the covers
and huddled with alan while you danced
with a raging tornado in the downstairs
of an apartment in ohio, our hero!

The pain of a finger smashed in a car door
that I still wear the scar, I remember the pain simply
went away by taking a warm bath just like you said
it would, you were the best doctor a son could have.

I learned sarcasim and to listen more carefully to what
people say when I think of how you told me 'not to do
anything drastic like put shelf paper on the shelves'
so I didn't but I will never forget the look on your
face when you come home from working all day and the
shelfs were done, I realized what you meant and learned,
I also shelf papered the next day ,grin>

I remember the day I realized I need to learn to fight
in this world, when uncle bill blackened your eye, I went
to hit him and he just pushed me away and laughed. I knew
then in order to protect you, I needed to learn to fight and
thus began my training...<grin>

I remember eating pizza in houston and you asked me and alan
what we thought about George, that you we're wanting to get married
but wanted our approval, That was the first time I realized
you always treated us with respect and as grown ups not children.
That was the first time I felt like a grown up.

I recall being at the browns (where we had the horses)
and we were told we were stranded, aunt mickey dropped us off
and you were suppose to pick us up only you were in mexico
getting married and we stayed there for days, every one teased
that we were abandoned, left forever, me and alan never believed
it for one second, we knew all was going to be alright and that you
would come get us, we actually had fun.

I remember a long drive to amarillo in the snow and it was scarey
I had to pee and you told me pee in a bottle , I literarly scared the
pee out of me but you were as calm as a cucumber and that kept me relaxed
I think back now to how that was a bad snow storm we drove
through and you made it seem like an amusement park ride.

I always make reference to the way I was woke up as a child
growing up, ..."rise and shine, it's morning time!" then grumble
awake or fall back asleep to round two where you would turn on the light.

I remember baking M&M cookies at the hut we lived in ,
near bouts the time JFK got shot, they kept interupting
my cartoons to show it over and over. I watched you
cradle and cuddle and care for alan, he was a baby
and I saw the true beauty of being gentle, perhaps
that is why I have chosen to live my life like cain
in kung fu rather than be a hard ass and seem mean
like barreta or kojak,

I heard it said that we are a product of our enviorment
that would be like a tree, our roots make us what we are
and how strong we will become above ground
begins with what went on long before the sprout of leaves.
I feel blessed to have had the life I had, with those that
I call family, and home seems to always be, where Mom is~

I'm not a mother, but this is a nice way to give her a boost. Thanks for sharing.
