I wish all the mothers a wonderous day. Thank you for all the blood sweat and tears shed. May you be drunk with happiness this and every day. :rose:

Both my children are back in New Zealand. I got an email from my son (he's almost 22) and I rang my daughter (17) to be told she is in the process of making me a card and it's for Mothers' Day last year as well (when she didn't send me one  ). She also sent me a SMS wishing me a happy day and wondering why they don't have Daughters' Day! I told her every damn day is Daughters' Day  :D

I also called my mother in NZ, she seems to be coping ok after my father's death a couple of months ago. It is hard being far away from family on special days like these........

Ok I'm not a terrible daughter but a fool.....

I just rang my mum and said

Happy mothers day!

And there was a stunned silence....i thought she was mad i had left it this late.

Then she said,

"darling, I don't quite know what planet you're on today but its not mothers day"

Me "It is"

Mum (insistantly) NO, it isn't.

Me (feeling very foolish) But they said.....

Mum:(sounding exasperated) Who said what?

Me: The internet people. They said it was today.

Mum: Well it is in america.

(another awkward silence.)
Me: D'OH

Mum: You sent me a card, in march. For mothering sunday. It arrived late, but i overlooked that. You tried.

Me: Oh.

Then, happily, we fell about laughing. I am so silly sometimes.

I'm sure the shared laugh was a present she will always treasure.
